Spike's Bitches 47: Someone Dangerous Could Get In
[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risqué (and frisqué), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.
I always get a flu shot. My doctors gave them to me back when it wasn't common, because I'm a magnet for respiratory diseases. It's a gift. I'm very proud.
Considering I had The Pleurisy last Nov/Dec, and then I had the respiratory thing that would not die in July, I am definitely getting a flu shot this year. I had skipped last year (I think because, ironically, I was out sick the day they had them in my office building [and yes, I *know* one can get flu shots elsewhere; I am lazy and it may yet one day be my downfall]), but I really don't want any more illnesses that last more than a month. Sheesh.
Hec & JZ, I hope the folks who claimed to repair the car can re-repair it?
For an additional $3,300. Which would only fix the transmission. The battery is still dire.
but every visit to that school for non-official functions makes me feel like I am just not cool enough for that place.
ugh. Grade school should not bring out feelings of inadequacy in anyone.
I feel so much better today. Last night EVERYONE in the house was cranky and tired. This morning everyone is chill. Plus there's coffee.
Daniel, feel better soon!
I took the dog for a romp, fed the animals, fixed breakfast, did some dishes, and worked on budget stuff for about an hour... and now I think I need a nap. So much to do this weekend, and I just don't have the energy. I'll keep plugging away, bit by bit. After a nap.
Hec, JZ, sorry about the car problems. I hate that it's so expensive.
Sox, good luck with all the bank shenanigans! That sounds majorly stressful!
The only time I skipped a flu shot was last year, because of just generally losing track of life, what with the whole brother-with-a-brain tumor thing, and the knee surgery thing, and the dog dying thing, and I got the flu. So I'm one of the first appointments at the flu shot clinic at work this Tuesday, because having the flu was no fun at all.
I need to be getting ready for my trip, but I can't make myself be productive today. I think I'm meeting up with some friends at a local bakery to hear an Oompah band later.
Given that I work in a germ factory, I get a flu shot every year, and it generally doesn't hurt much. I got my tetanus/pertussis booster a couple of months ago, and I was shocked that it didn't hurt more. It ached, but not as badly as I remember it. Then again, I think I may still be scarred from the pain of the pneumonia shot that I got after my bout with being hospitalized for it a few years ago. LeN, don't worry about the flu shot. It's easy peasy compared to the pneumonia shot.
I worry about being the vector of disease for the four houses I work at. So yeah, I'm all about timely immunizations. For me, flu shot equals kinda tired the next day. Tetanus (I think last time it was that dtap vaccine) equals sore arm and tired for three days. Tetanus plus flu plus pneumonia in same arm on same day equals get in bed and stay there for three days.

I usually don't get a flu shot, but since I am now the proud owner of an immune system that wants to collect everything, I'm going to ask my doctor if she thinks I should get one.
I am rather needle phobic. Had a tetanus shot in my early teens, a flu shot some time in the 60s. Fortunately, I don't think the germs like me much. Never had pneumonia, bronchitis, strep throat, or any of that nasty business. My theory is that since I was a sickly allergy ridden kid it evens things out for me to be a pretty healthy adult.
Health~ma for Daniel. I hope you have internet access and the energy to enjoy it. Some energy vibes for you too, Andi. Take care of yourself.
I need to get myself into the pool. I have been lax in the exercise department lately and I have some catching up to do with DH on the diet front. It is wholly unfair. He is doing the low carb thing with steaks and munching on cheese and pepperoni and so forth. He has lost 24 pounds in 3 weeks. I have lost 9 in the same period eating rabbit food. Grrr. I would be totally thrilled with continuing losing even 1-2 pounds a week, but it still is unfair that it is so easy for him. The good is both of us sticking to it so far.
Tetanus plus flu plus pneumonia in same arm on same day equals get in bed and stay there for three days.
yes. YES.
the general ability of men to lose weight really fucking chaps my hide. I recognize that some men do have difficulty dropping lbs, (and perhaps there are 1 or 2 women who also do) but most of my women friends essentially suck on lemons all day and if they have a slice of bread they instantly gain 5 lbs. WTF? I am sure there are evolutionary reasons for this, but I don't give a shit.
