Spike's Bitches 47: Someone Dangerous Could Get In

[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risqué (and frisqué), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

Sean, if it is lactose, than goat cheese and sheep's milk cheese might still be an option. Have you noticed if it is all cheese that is bothering you?

Also, the sharper cheddar is, the less lactose it has.

I’d be lying if I didn’t say that I miss them all tonight…

Skipping a bunch to say that cheese is emerging as a major suspect. Words cannot convey how unhappy I am about this.

Sean, I've had this problem for about 4 years, so I feel your pain. I had to cut out ALL lactose (and you'd be surprised where cow milk sneaks in), and then heavily curtail sheep & goat cheese. On the plus side, the issue seems to be going away - I can have goat cheese with wild abandon, sheep cheese with no major issue, and cow cheese/sour cream/butter about once/twice a week or so.

So, a) you are not alone and b) this might be a temporary issue.

Compassionately intolerant

I seem to be having calf issues too. But just my left calf. It feels tight, right behind the knee. I can't, for the life of me, imagine why.

Today, I decided to start at the south wall of my apartment and do a blitz cleaning until I reach the north wall.

All this in preparation for having an old friend stay with me next week.

It's been 7 months since Bartleby died and, in that time, I've gained 20lbs and my house has been quietly sinking under a blanket of dust and Cagney hair. It isn't ugly, but it ain't pretty.

The energy I need for this endeavor is not readily available but i feel it needs to be done.

Of course, roughly 18 inches from the south wall, I ran into a desperate repotting situation that drew my attention away for much longer than it should.

Ah well. It's one of those things that has been bugging me for a long time. Now it's done.

Wish me strength, stamina and additional swiffers to magically appear.

I'll be in Chicago for a few days starting Aug 29. Not sure of my schedule yet. I'll post in F2F

No, it's not quite all cheese, for example:

Also, the sharper cheddar is, the less lactose it has.

Sharp cheddar does not seem to bother as much. But still kind of bothers.

So, a) you are not alone and b) this might be a temporary issue.

This is good to hear, even if it's only a "might be".

Also, happy belated birthday, juliana!

You know what is not a good idea? Ordering gummy vitamins from the internet in 90+ degree heat. I ended up with a bottle of goo. Luckily drugstore.com was very nice about refunding my money.

Tea:

It will take some trial and error, but you'll soon figure out what your limits are with the cheese and which ones you can and cannot eat. And as someone said upthread, lactaid pills can really help a lot.
