But? There's always a but. When this is over, can we have a big 'but' moratorium?

[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risqué (and frisqué), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

Every now and then, I think I might actually be a little odd.

Thank you all! Brilliant.

"And to be clear, I am the hell. And the high water."

So I am having to buy moving blankets/pads because I am doing upack and apparently they don't come with moving blankets/pads.

It is recommended that I buy 5 dozen. Which is what I did.

WTF am I going to do with all these pads after I move? Should I sell most of them on craigslist? I'm fine with keeping a dozen, but I have no use for 5 dozen.

Bob's learned to live with tragedy, but he knows that this tragedy is one that won't ever leave him or get better.

Are you able to donate the tv? If you itemize on taxes, those donations really do add up. I donate everything these days (other than things I give away to friends) just to avoid the hassle of flakey buyers.

No one will come pick it up! I am on the second floor and I can't move it by myself. Well, I have. But it's dumb. Enough that Jilli yells at me. And I won't try the stairs.

I will donate it anywhere but I made a ton of calls a few months ago and no bites. It's a Mistubishi 26" tv (CS-2610R) with remote in great condition. Someone take the damn thing!

I've gotten to know the guy at the donation site pretty well in the past few days. I am just collecting my receipts as I go. I think I have six so far. In two days. My goal is to only have to move 2/3 of the items I had when I decided to move.

Craigslist, yes. Packing supplies go like wildfire there.

Where did you get them? I need to figure out how to move my actual tv.

Our wings are not tired.

Cass, could taskrabbit.com help? I bet you could list it and for pretty cheap have someone come and take it (and any other donations you have) to the center and send you your receipt.

(Let me know if you're just in venting mode and don't want tips! I would totally understand!)

"And to be clear, I am the hell. And the high water."

Cass,

try posting it on freecycle. I am sure someone will take it if you said it is free.

In Portland? Please.

If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

How big is your building? Input my old one in the hall and stuck a "free tv on 8th floor" sign in the elevator. It was gone by the time I got back from dog walking.

Bob's learned to live with tragedy, but he knows that this tragedy is one that won't ever leave him or get better.

I could get rid of it for free but that involves letting two total strangers into my place. And no halls. I suppose I could FaceTime someone while people were here. Craigslist is just a creepy place to find strangers to let into my place.

Cass, could taskrabbit.com help?

Totally! I am checking that out.

Actually if it doesn't work, I am moving it right outside my door and will list it for free. Then no one gets to come in. I can wiggle it the eight or so feet with no lifting it up.

Problem solved!

And I totally need to keep taskrabbit in mind. I'd completely forgotten about them.

Cass, if you just want it gone, try Freecycle. My experience is Freecyclers will take anything and everything.

Um, yes. As already suggested. Ne'er mind.

Because books.

Purple Heart also picks up items for donation, including household items, but I'm not sure if they would come into your apartment. Maybe get the guy you gave the microwave to to move it for you?
