Sean's fauna resembles mine. Not so much bees, though. Lots & lots of Jilli-fonts.

Skunk in the front yard last night. Really nothing to do but hope nobody startles it.

Epic, I have no idea. I'm 39 and I have no idea what I want to study! I had to tell them something so right now I'll be talking to someone about getting an AA in Liberal Studies.

I do have some college credits but I don't want to transfer them. I'd like to start over like I've never been.

well, if you need some assistance and career counseling resources, give me a holler.

brillig

I would love to go back to school and pick up some History and non-potential-career stuff. Just indulge in learning.

AA in Liberal Studies

Great place to start! I have an AA in Liberal Studies. I had a great time (except possibly for physics...oh, and statistics, but everything else, really great). I always loved to study EVERYTHING. I think you'll really enjoy it!

edit: And it helped me get a feel for things, so I had a better idea of strengths and weaknesses when I went for my Bachelor's. Like I said, excellent place to start.

Go askye! That's awesome!

I just had a drama-filled work meeting about something that went wrong, and I felt awful because I had to throw a colleague under the bus. I tried to mitigate (and I feel extra awful because I KNOW how horribly stressed and awful they were being to her back then) but there's no reason why she DIDN"T bring up this issue sooner...argh.

"We're all stories, in the end. Just make it a good one, eh?"

That's great, askye! We don't have an equivalent of liberal arts here. I think it would have helped me work out what I enjoyed studying.

AA in Liberal Studies is fine. And hey....DON'T not take transfer credits, bebe. Sweet, sweet, moola there.

If it's in a subject you're interested in, but you feel like you didn't get the knowledge, personally I'd ask around, see if you can find a prof for that class who has a student-friendly rep and say "Look, I took this class yonks ago, but I was in a bad place, and I didn't learn much. Now, they gave me the credit and I don't have the money to audit. Is there anyway I could sit in silently?"

Some will say yes, some no -- unless it was a tiny class, or a writing class, I would have said yes in a hot second -- a student who WANTS to learn this stuff I'm breaking my balls to teach? COME ON HERE, here's the rules.

Thanks le nubian!

Strix - that would describe pretty much every class I took. I think the last time I took a class and looked at my transcript I had more credits than I thought - enough for almost 2 full semesters ( I think). Some of the stuff was electives, but the actual academic classes...those I don't feel comfortable going to the next level unless I could redo them.

It's something that I'm going to talk about at the appointment.

Then I also have classes like my College Algebra class I failed twice. But the requirements have changed for that particular school and I wouldn't even need to take college algebra, I'd need a math for liberal arts or something.

But I want to take college algebra just so can triumph over my nemesis.
