Spike's Bitches 47: Someone Dangerous Could Get In

[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risqué (and frisqué), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

Why isn't everyone pelting me with JOY, dammit? - Zenkitty

On the Frankensteins: The **** bothered me, as it was supposed to, but Miller's version bothered me more; the way Cumberbatch did it, you could almost imagine that it didn't really happen, it was just the Creature's attempt at something he couldn't/didn't understand.

Exactly - Miller's DID know it was doing wrong. And reveled that it made him more of a man (not sex; violence and betrayal).

Katie and I talked about the differences between the performances. The Creature and Frankenstein was very different people, due to the way they were portrayed, even though the dialog and the script were the same. That was really interesting to see.

They really need to DVD this for compare/contrast!

And the differences between the two Creatures. Cumberbatch studied people who'd been injured, and Miller studied his toddler. So C's Creature seemed to be relearning how to control his body, and Miller's Creature was learning his body for the first time.

I feel like the fact that Miller was basing it on his 2-yr-old might in a way have informed the Creature's morality as well - with all the selfishness of a toddler, but the strength to be a very violent man with it.

Ginger, Typo, sorry about the insurance suckfest.

And I knew about One Direction because of reading Entertainment Weekly, but that really only qualified me to comment on their hairstyles (mostly really bad), not their music. (And I try not to judge, what with my lingering love of NKOTB and all).

a Chaos Muppet trying valiantly to pretend to be an Order Muppet

It's not that I'm pretending to be an Order Muppet, but it's certainly not my natural state.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

I suppose the fact that I keep singing "C is for Chaos, that's good enough for me" makes it clear what kind of muppet I am...

The status is NOT quo.

I am an Order Muppet with Chaotic tendencies.

Woe to the fucking wicked.

Oh, I would definitely put "sex" in there, too. Did you notice that he put his hand on the right side of her chest when she was feeling his heartbeat (Cumberbatch's put his on her left...when she objected, his intention was less clear-cut).

I was more struck in that last scene by the "kicked dog" aspect of the relationship the second time through. Miller really sold the conflict of both loving and hating Frankenstein. Which, I suppose, is also toddler-like.

I definitely saw the difference in reference (toddler vs. TBI) in the opening sequence, but more striking to me was that I swear I could see the thought process step by step with Cumberbatch and he didn't skip anything until he got up on his feet (walking should have taken longer, but I understand that they didn't want to spend a lot of time with falling down from standing. We can only go forward.) whereas Miller looked like he was recreating something he'd seen. It's a really subtle difference, and, like I've said, it was probably the "this is what we're doing in school" thing that really made it stand out to me.

I did see the hand, and at the time thought it was innocent...

And if it makes you feel better, I did sit there in the opening sequence going, "Gross Motor Functions, check!", as well - and I'm not in school right now.

Why did Darth Vader cross the road? To get to the Dark Side!

Where are folks getting this Chaos vs Order muppet thing? I am curious, although I predict ahead of time I'll be an Order muppet despite the state of my housekeeping. I am, it seems, a slut, in the traditional sense of the term.

So now I am left with the question am I an Order muppet because I get the kids out the door every day, or am I a Faux Order muppet because I do not alphabetize?
