So I have a young hummingbird in my bathroom. It was on the sidewalk of Burlington, I found it on my way back to my car after getting dinner. Actually I found a group of young girls and their moms crowded around it and trying to touch it.
They found it because their dog and sniffed out the bird's hiding place. And then it wandered into the sidewalk and almost got stepped on.
There is a wildlife rescue, but they aren't open until tomorrow. I put a phone call in to them and left a message, but I don't think I'm going to hear back.
I did manage to get some sugar water into the bird and it perked up. It can flutter its wings, but not fly. Right now it's in a box with a dishtowel and some weedy grass stuff it was trying to hide in.
The bird managed to hide itself again (i ran up to the office to find a box and came back and it had gotten under some leaves) but another dog went straight for the hiding place. I just didn't think it had a chance between all the dogs and foot traffic.
Also if I realized I needed to feed it every 30 mins I probably would have put it back. But now I have it and I'm going to try and keep it alive.
I am home. Vortex and her friends are disco-napping and then hitting Frenchman, in theory. I am soooo done for the night. Oy.
I bought a disposable e-cigarette to try today and it kept me smoke free! So seems like it might be worth investing in a reusable one.

And now I just caught Dean backing up to pee on my clean laundry. He walked past the litter box to do that! Maybe he's mad at me about something, I don't know. I guess I'll have to take him to the vet and see if he's got a UTI or something

Sent the MS off and was only 20 minutes late to the thing I organized for out of town friends. But — no deadlines this weekend!

Hummingbird made it through the night. About to drive about two hrs to get it to the rescue place.
We tried to disco nap, but instead off hitting snooze, I turned off the alarm by mistake. Woke up, ready to ge, feeling very rested, then realized it was 12:30. I thought that we could still go out, but I was overruled. :)
