Is he Canadian? I've heard reserve used very rarely, but only in slightly odd contexts, like British talking about Americans, or maaaybe northern territories tribes, although they're more likely to say First Nations stuff.
Also, even 'rez' is careful slang. That is to say, you kinda have to earn the right to say it.
Donna Summer has had her last dance.
Bless her heart. link
I was going to say, that sounds like Canadian usage to me.
t /not an expert
And it is indeed Canadian; just came across ref to Tim Hortons.
The protags of the story are Native, and using the term. When it's not being used by a Native, it clearly couched as a perjorative.
Thanks, all!

Okay, yup, that's fine then, Erin.
I second the Jockey vote, but I also only buy them at Jockey outlets in outlet malls, because I am cheap.
Just talked to my bro. He's physically recovering fairly well from the withdrawal, though the hospital is probably going to keep him until Monday, he thinks. He's got serious vitamin deficiencies to deal with, as well as the hepatitis (his doctor told him he probably had a year AT MOST before it would have progressed to cirrhosis [let's remember he's 35 fucking years old]), but he's doing okay physically, and should recover well in time.
Mentally he's pretty shredded. Now that he's not fighting the horrible withdrawal symptoms, he's stuck in bed contemplating everything that quitting booze is going to entail, like Who Am I Without Booze? and How Do I Deal With Stress/Boredom/Celebrations Without Booze? and Huh, Why Did I Do This In The First Place?
He's tough, and he's from a tough family, many of whom have gone through this, and I know he can get through this.
