Yikes.
Spike's Bitches 47: Someone Dangerous Could Get In
[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risqué (and frisqué), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.
Luckily her family knew what to do, the restaurant staff was wonderful, and the ambulance came quickly. The morning adventure of water spurting from the washing machine and hauling wet soapy clothes to the laundromat doesn't seem as dramatic anymore.
Omnis, I can understand how frustrating your siblings' lack of participation is upsetting for you and your father. Just keep in mind that it's actually their issue, not yours. With my brother, it's no surprise. I nickname him "the hermit", as he rarely calls any of us. He and his wife keep in contact with her family, but not his. Dunno why. Just the way it works out. My sister. I dunno. I guess being less than a year apart, we were very tight growing up. And she was "the good one". Always doing her chores and homework. Being the responsible one. And now, as an adult, she is the complete opposite. So yeah, it is her problem. But, I'm also wanting to do as much as I can for dad. I guess part of that is "guilt" (for lack of a better word) in that I feel there is nothing I can do from all the way over here. And anger that there is tons for her to do being a few miles away. But. Well. I dunno. I reached out. I tried. Just want to keep his spirits up. I know how much that helps.
ION, the Pre-Qualify isn't strong enough for the selling bank. So now I gotta go through the Pre-Approval process (another $125 fee). And more time. Ugg. So frustrating. Which apparently is basically applying for the mortgage itself. So hopefully this will save hassle down the road. And hopefully this one won't fall through, so all this won't be for nothing. But. Ugg. Crazy. If it does fall through, I really have to think, do I want to even look at short sales anymore? It's about all I can afford. But. Golly, the hassle is a hassle.
{{{omnis}}} You are doing what you can and I'm sure your calls mean a lot to your father right now. You can't change your siblings, no matter how much you might want to. As far as the short sale goes, I really hope this one comes through for you.
omnis, a pre-approval ought to be good for a certain period of time, so even if this sale falls through, you can go look at another house with pre-approval in hand, which will make the whole process much easier and quicker. My sister says never start looking at houses unless you have a pre-approval. It's like cash in hand.
Apparently (i'm still learning) the pre-certify is easy to get, and is just a "yup, we can do business with him" and gets your foot in the door. The pre-approval is specific to a property AND me, and is harder to get. So, not sure how much it would transfer to another property, should this one fall through.

Our pre-approval lasted for 3 months at a time. They do have to run your credit every time they do one, which can lower your credit rating.
What Zen said about pre-approval. It's key.
And please listen to Nora. I am glad she wrote what she did, because I kept wanting to say something but didn't feel I could string the right words together. And then Nora said it exactly right. You are not your siblings' keeper. Just keep doing what you personally can for your dad.

The pre-approval should still apply if you find another place in the same price range. If it is a pricier place you find next time, nsm.
