Spike's Bitches 47: Someone Dangerous Could Get In

[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risqué (and frisqué), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

Friends don't let friends read "Atlas Shrugged"

A group my mother belongs to - collecters of a certain pattern of antique dishes - sued the AG company for copyright infringement (they'd used THEIR pattern, which was copyrighted, on Addy's ... tea set, I think it was).

"There are few hours in life more agreeable than the hour dedicated to the ceremony known as afternoon tea."

Well, that's a bit odd.

I thought so too. We have the closing in a few hours.

Sometimes I think I might just move up to Vermont, open a bookstore or a vegan restaurant. Adam Schlesinger, z''l

The newest historical dolls are Cecile and Marie-Grace, who live in New Orleans in the 1850s. Lots of frilly dresses to buy for them, as well as Mardi Gras costumes.

Art Crawl!!!

Interesting.

I have a co-worker who each year scans resale shops and ebay and finds an AGD and then makes it a wardrobe and donates it to her local school to give as a Christmas present to a child in need.

I would have loved the historical dolls when I was a kid. Particularly all the interesting little things you could get for them. (Less the clothes more the books, teasets, pets.)

I’m responsible for my own happiness? I can’t even be responsible for my own breakfast! (Bojack Horseman)

I thought so too. We have the closing in a few hours.

It's possible the movers misunderstood in the craziness of packing? At any rate, good luck today and get your signing hand ready!

We won’t stop until everyone is gay.

The original dolls were Samantha, Molly, and Kirsten. Felicity and Addy were added a few years later.

Maybe Samantha, then? IDK.

Fingers crossed for you that the closing goes well, sj!!

I have eaten breakfast, fed animals, done dishes, swept two rooms, and scooped the cat pans. Now to take Frankie to the park and then get on the job thing. I've laid out a rough schedule for today, hoping that will help me stay on track and not get distracted and overwhelmed. And I'm wearing Supergirl underwear and my "Defying gravity" shirt for inspiration (and a skirt, don't be silly).

eta and I also broke in two and dumped the rest of my cigarettes.

this mess was yours / now your mess is mine

Dang, smonster, you've done more than I have today, and I'm actually at work.

The visitation for my co-worker is tonight, and the funeral is tomorrow morning. I hate the visitation part so much. I always have. I understand the importance of it to those who are grieving, and I'm glad it exists for those who need it. But it's just...that body is not *him*, and I don't want to see it.

Big!Boss said -- and it was much more kind and compassionate than I'm about to make it sound -- that tomorrow after the funeral, he's keeping the office open if anyone needs the distraction of working, but no one is expected to return. Which is nice. I'm expecting that I won't be able to pull myself together enough to work for the rest of the day. But, like Big!Boss said, the distraction might be what I need. We'll see.

If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

That is actually a pretty nice and thoughtful approach, so long as it's sincere. (Which it sounds like it is.)

I'm sorry this is going to be so tough for you.

Yeah, it is sincere. It just sounds a little funny to say "Well, the office will be open after your co-worker's funeral."

G. worked here for 28 years, so Big!Boss is very upset, too. And G.'s wife asked Big!Boss to speak at the funeral. That's going to be hard for him.
