K already has a bitty baby from American Girl compliments of her cousin, who thought she needed one. All her girl cousins have been American Girl cult members, and none of them have given away their dolls, yet, including the 22 year old.
Fact: Things on sale online are not on sale at the stores, but if you ask in the store for the online price they will give it to you.
My sister had one of the original AG dolls, Felicity I think? But never got that far into the cult.
The walk through went ok, except for the fact that the seller took all the curtain rods, when our contract specifically states that he is to leave them.

Sox - a woman at work has a daughter even deeper into the American Girl doll cult - HER doll goes for spa treatments. When they opened a store near us, they stood in line to get in and worship. And pay.

The original dolls were Samantha, Molly, and Kirsten. Felicity and Addy were added a few years later.
A group my mother belongs to - collecters of a certain pattern of antique dishes - sued the AG company for copyright infringement (they'd used THEIR pattern, which was copyrighted, on Addy's ... tea set, I think it was).

The newest historical dolls are Cecile and Marie-Grace, who live in New Orleans in the 1850s. Lots of frilly dresses to buy for them, as well as Mardi Gras costumes.

I have a co-worker who each year scans resale shops and ebay and finds an AGD and then makes it a wardrobe and donates it to her local school to give as a Christmas present to a child in need.
I would have loved the historical dolls when I was a kid. Particularly all the interesting little things you could get for them. (Less the clothes more the books, teasets, pets.)
