5K = awesome! Have fun, Shrift!

Did I mention that K and I and got entrances to the Nike Women's Half Marathon in San Fran in October? I'm super excited but we won't be walking with kids. Now we have to find someone to watch kids while we are half-marathoning.

A 5K would totally be easy! ...if I were walking it.

So far my attempts to do Couch-to-5K have been less than successful, stalling due to shin splints and the unreasonable demand of the program that I manage to run five whole minutes at a time.

I walk at least 10K a day, meara, so I totally understand!

It's going to be cold and rainy tomorrow, so at least I don't have to worry about heatstroke.

And on that note, I need to go to bed.

What else besides ramen can you scoop? YOU CAN SCOOP THIS WORLD FROM DARKNESS!

And P-C, if you're around, I met Mira Grant and got Feed signed (because the guy giving out the next one said I needed to read Feed first), and said, "My friend [P-C] has said incredible things about this book," and she beamed, and said, "YOU KNOW [P-C}?! Awesome!"

Aw, awesome! I didn't realize you were both at the same thingy! I hope you like the book!

Bob's learned to live with tragedy, but he knows that this tragedy is one that won't ever leave him or get better.

I am sad that we've said goodbye to Spirit. What a good little rover.

this mess was yours / now your mess is mine

I skipped to the end recklessly to say Buffistas are awesome, as usual, and I saw FOUR of them today, which was pretty cool.

I had dinner with Brenda! And what we lacked in numbers (being only 2 and not 5), we made up for in sheer AWESOME. And dog talk.

Every now and then, I think I might actually be a little odd.

I am sad that we've said goodbye to Spirit. What a good little rover.

Me too. What an amazing journey! Sad it's over.

5K

Someone please explain this undoubtedly obvious thing to me. It doesn't mean 5 thousand miles... what's the "K"?

meara - May 25, 2011 7:27:11 pm PDT #9707 of 30001

Kilometers, Zenkitty--it's a little over 3 miles.

We are Buffistas. This isn't our first apocalypse. -- Pix

Kilometers. For some reason footraces are in increments of 5K (3 miles), 10K (6 miles), half-marathons (13 miles), and marathons (26 miles).

Unless it's on a track, in which case it's the 100m, 200m, 1,000m, 1500m, 5,000m, and so forth.

No, it doesn't make much sense.

Every now and then, I think I might actually be a little odd.

Oh, of course it is! Thanks!

I might be able to walk 3 miles. I looked at Couch-to-5k but it seems so complicated...
