Fuck. Erin lives just outside of KC on the Kansas side, and I have friends on the MO side.
Oh, amyth, if you didn't click Frankenbuddha's link, you should really scroll up and do that.

I haven't seen reports of damage or injuries in the KC area. Sedalia took a hit though.
I just saw a report that people in the Governor's Mansion have been herded into the basement, so there must be something around Jeff City, too.
Wishes for safety to all Buffistas and Buffista friends and family in tornado and tornado adjacent regions.
Oh, now I'm terribly curious what all that user-generated places look like!
Me too.
I really want erin and Gud to check in!
Okay, KCers, stay low and keep your heads down. Yikes.
Today is Towel Day. Don't forget your towel!
Wish I had brought a truckload to work today. We ended up closing school due to flooding. Right after 3rd period, my principal and I got to my room at about the same time to make sure it wasn't flooding due to all the rain. My room is typically ground zero for that. It wasn't. Three minutes later, however, it totally was. I (and 3 other teachers) disconnected all my computers and moved them across the room. I (and 2 other teachers) cleared out the bottom drawers of my filing cabinets.
Then, all around the first floor, it started flooding. It was seeping sewage water into the halls. So, we evacuated all the kids to the 2nd floor. Then, the decision was made to close school and send the kids home. 2.5 hours later, I think they're all picked up.
I am exhausted. My room no longer has standing water in it, but there 2 huge fans drying the carpet. I'm lucky that it was just rainwater coming in and not sewage water like other areas of the school.
And? Today is Crazy Hair and Clash Day. So, as parents are coming to pick up their kids and as the superintendent comes in my room to check out the flooding, I'm standing there in green/yellow/white striped capris, a pink/black/fuschia polka dotted top, pink/fuschia/animal print socks, and a black and hot pink anime wig.
Hi! I'm a professional teacher. Please trust me with your children. Good times.
There are a lot of power outages around KC that could keep them from checking in right away.
Awesome, ChiKat. The outfit, not the flooding.
Yipes! Stay safe, all you buffista and buffista relatives in tornado country!
So worrisome this year.
Ew, the flooding sounds awful ChiKat, but the outfits sound hilarious! :)
Do you at least get a free paid (half) day off? That's kinda fun...I'd be worried the whole place was going to stink for weeks, though.
Stay safe, everyone!
Which makes my weather-related dilemma very petty. But then this is Buffistas, where no question is too petty to share.
To wit: I forgot my umbrella (actually I left it home on purpose because the radio said it was going to rain the North Bay, bah), and now it's raining, and I want my lunch.
Do I brave the rain, or just settle for the crappy food in the 5th-floor canteen?
