"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

I only know about it because of the Placebo song of the same name. Apparently it comes on very strong.

In other horrible news, a retired British woman was stabbed to death and beheaded on the Spanish island of Tenerife, by an apparently crazy Bulgarian. Totes random and ghastly.

"already on the kiss-cam with Karl Marx"-

Quester, insent. Am now feeling like one of the dealers in Balmer, offering testers so you'll know how good the shit is.

It's five thousand for kissing, ten thousand for snuggling... End of list.

I wanna talk about drugs. Heroin! No, not heroin. Speed! No, not speed. Hashish! No, not even hashish. Horse tranquilizers? Not horse tranquilizers.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

I didn't get much ketamine. Certainly not enough to feel altered. Definitely NOT ENOUGH TO CURE MY HEADACHE. But I have circled the rim of the K-Hole.

Random question: what sort of easy/delicious thing can I do with coconut milk? Especially "using ingredients I might already have" (ie, not make a curry). I bought some to make the black sticky rice dessert (NOM), but it only used about 1/3 of a can each time I made it (last night and tonight). Even if I make more with the last bit (ran out of rice), I figure in the future I might end up with leftover coconut milk.

Pina coladas!

I've always wanted to try the coconut milk breads I've heard of. Google that?

My nephew turned 4 today. Got to call and wish him a happy birthday. Probably the longest conversation I've managed to have with him on the phone. He LOVES birthdays! He's FOUR.

His speech has radically improved even in the past month. I don't know if he's getting therapy or if actually being able to hear has triggered something.

Because books.

My mom made this African coconut bread with her kids at school, and everyone loved it. You'd need actual shredded coconut, too, though.

I need to try it. She was a little freaked out by the "bake in a moderate oven" directions, and I'm not sure how long it took, but it came out really well. All the kids loved it.

Back tattoos of the mother is that you are absolutely right - Ame

Oh, meara - I want the recipe for the black sticky rice dessert.

I wish ita could have my doc. She kicks ass at making me feel better.

I have posted pics of the tournament over on FB. I only competed in one event - sparring, and came in 4th. CJ got 2nd in his sparring group (behind his training partner), 3rd in weapons, and nothing in kata (he was robbed). He also was on the demo team and they took first for the first time in years. Our dojo also won the tournament trophy! It is taller then our lead sensei.

The other thing that made the day extra special is that we had 2 Shaolin Monks visiting from China. They did a demonstration in the middle of the day and then taught a seminar at the end of the day. Both CJ and I participated in the seminar. It was darned cool.

Suzi, the only black sticky rice I found was pre-cooked (Annie Chung's at Whole Foods), so the recipes I found that said to cook it in coconut milk, I skipped--just poured some on, and heated it all up. Then poured in about...er...3t of sugar? Ish? To taste. And sprinkled on some salt (the sweet/salty mix is part of what I love about it). Pour a little more coconut milk on. Delicious! :)

Shaolin monks? That's awesome!

The thought of coconut bread makes me want coco bread (not the same thing, but I have never found good jamaican food here in Seattle--in DC there was a random ice cream store run by Jamaicans that had patties and coco bread in addition to the ice cream)

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

Awesome, Suzi! Coming in second to his sparring partner seems especially impressive. And Shaolin monk seminar!

I know I've made stuff with coconut milk but I can't remember/find any recipes. Bah.
