Firemen?
Yep.
I heard the sirens stop a little too close for comfort and then I heard many voices from the hallway so I got out of the bath to check it out. With just a bathtowel I was going to check the peephole but I smelled smoke before I got there and went back for my robe. Before I had the robe all the way on they were banging on my door. They don't knock subtly.
The hallway certainly smelled like smoke and they were banging on doors looking for the source. No flames were found and while they searched the smell faded a bit and seemed more like incense. So thankfully, no dripping wet and barely dressed evacuation for me.
And now that the firetrucks are gone I think I should finish bathing.
Quester,
I made friends on Livejournal and dreamwidth with people that do it...if you like Keith Olbermann fics, my friends Lunaris and Sarken do it a lot.
I'm also a member of a community on lj called Rahmbamarama...if you want to read about anyone in the leftish political world getting off with anyone else in the LPW, there it is.
Also, archive of our own... I'm embarrassed to admit that Keith/ Rachel is a favorite. It's kind of...wrong. But, you know, tender angst. And quipping.
Sue, dining room and foyer do sound like key places, though...
My house is back to front (thank you, postwar urban planning), so the foyer isn't used much by anyone but me. And other than the odd dinner party, the dining room is really only used by Clio and my parent's when they visit. The kitchen is the room that needs a good going over.
Nice beehive, -t. Keeping bees seems so cool. I wonder how they would feel about constant traffic.
Sue - do you follow Seamus Deaver?
He's been tweeting about Eurovision all day.
Sue - do you follow Seamus Deaver?
I do! He and some Brits are keeping me entertained.
At my last apartment, someone on my floor burned an empty coffee pot. Someone else called the fire department. They did that loud banging on the door thing, looking for the source. If no one answered a door, they'd pry the top part of the door open a few inches to see if that apartment was the source.
The guy who burned his coffee pot did not tell the firemen that he caused the smoke. Eventually they went away.
Yikes, aurelia! Glad it wasn't any worse. I hope your resumed bath is not interrupted.
People keep bees on rooftops in cities, Sue. Or so I hear. I don't think they mind traffic particularly, they fly higher than car level when they are not flower-to-flower.
The show Good Christian Bitches is now called Good Christian Belles. How disappointing.
SMG's show got picked up.
I left the house at 8:30 this morning. I got home at 5...
Market, pedicure, haircut, swim, target, trader joe's. Home. Laundrating.
I went to the pool in Ellicott City (very nice, they have 2 pools; the therapy pool is warmer and has the lift, but the main pool is an awesome cool temp.) They have digital timers which are easier to read through foggy goggles, which meant I could track my lap times & I learned something interesting: on long swims, I pretty much speed up, not slow down. Now, part of that might be me racing the clock unconsciously, but... Dropped the first minute after lap 26 (57.6sec,) the second after 46 (57sec), the third after 63 (56.4 eta to fix math) and the last 9 averaged 55seconds even. Huh.
Pool was cool, and I do swim faster, and there was the clock, but those were not the results I was expecting.
Now I need to do my manicure.
