Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

I'm thinking of asking the pain specialist this time how much it's supposed to hurt, both during and after the procedure. And then suggest they take steps to work with my resistance to pain meds to actually have me out of pain.

My tolerance to pain is high. I can stay still throughout the entire block procedure, but I will cry, and it will not be quiet, on one dose. I will just be miserable on two. Are they really supposed to be getting us to miserable? And then leaving us for five days of misery? And then the next week, you come in and do the other side?

But, fuck, it's so much better than not having it done. Otherwise my shoulders and a cluster of trigger points, and I can't wear a halter top without getting a headache, much less a well-meaning shoulder rub sending me right off the edge into shoulder pain and intense headache. Last year's block is wearing off and I'm back at that point where I can only carry bags on the bony parts of my shoulder. No sexy halter into the summer for me!

Aw, they just had the "It gets better" browser ad. And THE THING is happening on Smallville. UNF.

God, I better juice up for tomorrow. If I don't eat, they...week before last they stcuk me more than ten times. I need a forearm line, dammit. Or for them to go into my neck, but they don't like to. But it's simple and never infiltrates.

8 more ounces before bed.

The status is NOT quo.

Typo, fwiw, my mom had what sounds like a similar oral cancer a decade ago, and her surgery was so successful that she didn't even need radiation afterwards, and it's never come back. I am thinking positively that it will be the same for you.

ETA ita, definitely talk to your doctor. Don't be strong--tell them the level of pain you are in.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Jayzus, Pix, that sounds like freaking torture to ND.

I'd have to punch me some doctor at that point.

Jilli! We found Scary Godmother.

Matilda was presented with the book.

Matilda: "Who's that bad witch?"
JZ: "That's the Scary Godmother."
Me: "She's a good witch."
Matilda: [dubious face] "Her skeleton necklace is freaking me out!"

But then we opened the book and saw how cute Hannah was and now she's enjoying it.

Random Futurama quotes to counteract all the torturous tales of healthcare:

"Morbo, how's the family?" "Belligerent and numerous!"

"The spirit is willing, but the flesh is spongy and bruised."

"You can crush me but you can't crush my spirit...Ow, my spirit!"

"Now, now. Perfectly symmetrical violence never solved anything."

brillig

The most painful thing I've had without anesthesia--packing of the sinuses to stop a ruptured artery. 2nd most painful--colposcopy, ie, a procedure in which a camera is necessary because pictures are needed of the inside of the uterus. A 35mm lens out at the vestibule, as it were, with a contraption to provide light, and the means by which the normally private uterus is persuaded to provide a view.

I liked the doctor taking the pictures, so I did not kick her. I didn't know the nurse helping with the sinus from Adam, and I nearly broke her knee.

this mess was yours / now your mess is mine

Aw, they just had the "It gets better" browser ad.

I confess that when I saw that, I went 100% cynical and said, "REALLY? Google is using 'It Gets Better' to pimp their damn browser?" Seriously. "Having your life threatened because of your sexuality sucks, but using Chrome makes it okay!"

And THE THING is happening on Smallville. UNF.

I really want to believe you mean Lex/Clark. DO NOT TELL ME OTHERWISE.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Wha? I totally thought Teppy was rising for the Morbo bait.

Oh, I soooo did not like the colposcopy, and they were like "er...do you want to come back some other time, we can give you a lorazepam?" and I was like "fuck no, I already am dealing with half of the procedure just freaking get it done!"

Bueller?

I was in the half asleep state and now am abruptly awake. Bleh. But tomorrow is a good day--I get both ND and SA! Now if I can just sleep.

Bob's learned to live with tragedy, but he knows that this tragedy is one that won't ever leave him or get better.

I'm thinking of asking the pain specialist this time how much it's supposed to hurt, both during and after the procedure. And then suggest they take steps to work with my resistance to pain meds to actually have me out of pain.

For fuck's sake, yes. Out. Of. Pain.

I was getting medical attention before I was diagnosed with IBS and I was in fucking tears. With my mom at the hospital because she was visiting while I tried to be really brave. And then, pain paused. It was magic. Because I came to them in pain and it stopped for that time. Granted it only stopped briefly in hindsight but that is what medical professionals should provide. They should take someone in terrible pain and make it be tolerable. Make them able to go to the next day where they might find out why they are hurting and how to to hurt less.

Seriously.
