ita, have you tried the neti pot?

Sad that Table Talk will never drink fruit punch again.
It was just supposed to be rain with the occasional flake mixed in. Shoot, the current forecast still says rain - someone isn't looking out the window.
So, yesterday was a bad asthma day. Finally went to the doc where I got two nebulizer treatments and still felt tight. Better than before, for sure, but still ick. Got prednosone, new meds for my home nebulizer, lorazapam (as I tend to panic with the attacks), and a nasal spray (still have to get that from the pharmacy). She said I should feel better by tomorrow. I hope so. I REALLY hope so.

Aw man! ALLERGIES.
I can't work out which cold medicines are effective--so far Nyquil and Delsym have barely relieved my stuffed nose.
Try a behind-the-counter decongestant. Stimulants don't affect you much, right?
the sudafed red pill is the fucking BOMB. I'm serious. it has saved my ass prior to flying more than once.
neti pot is also awesome. My first few times I felt like an idiot, but since I could breathe afterward, my embarrassment soon passed.
Nyquil is more or less useless except as a sleep aid, IMO - too many conflicting ingredients to have any real effect. It's got enough alcohol to knock you out, but wouldn't you rather just have a gimlet?
For congestion relief, I prefer Mucinex to Sudafed - it loosens up the gunk so you can cough it out rather than drying you up. (I dearly miss the old blue Sudafed...crystal meth decongestant PLUS guaifenesin = SO MUCH RELIEF.)
Yeah, Nyquil doesn't knock me out. I'm pretty much immune to oral benadryl, unless it's to make me hyper when I have too much.
I have one more dose of the multi-symptom Delsym left, and then I'll go to the pharmacy at lunch.
ita, I have given up on anything but the Sudafed stuff for my allergies. Aleve-D is the best for my sinuses, since it also has a really good painkiller in it, but the Claritin at least helps, and it doesn't put me to sleep like the other stuff.

Awww. I found TT via Salon, waaaay back in like 1995 or 1996; I remember getting my account in 1997, and posting under my real name for quite a while, until someone started the Fic thread. Then I changed my handle so I could talk fic.
Congratulations, Kathy! Half-way there! Woot! ::shakes pompoms::
I ate a chocolate honey-dipped donut this morning, and it was just what I needed. NOM.
I'm a big fan of Advil Cold & Sinus. It has saved me on many occassions.
