Hah. Queen Margrethe is awesome. As the fug girls said and someone linked above, when is Helen Mirren going to play her in something?

I thought Spanish Princess Letizia was one of the prettiest and best dressed.
Kate's mom looked lovely, and Pippa looked beautiful in her dress.
Brenda is just awesomely awesome, but we all knew that. It is ironic that recognition for doing a great job is more of the same. But I've no doubt you'll rock that, too.
CJ is awesome too, in his own field of the moment. Go him!
David, you gave me a lace-gasm! Yes, I ate up every detail you posted, and understood and could replicate at one point, all but a couple of those processes. I have done the frequent hand-washing and new-needle exchange when working on restoring antique whites (though working with cotton isn't as fiddly as working with silk). Thank you for that.
I love Kate's dress. I'm excessively tired of the universal every-bride strapless fishtail silhouette that varies only in how much stuff is encrusted on it and where the crust is located, and how wrinkly and puckered it looks and where on the dress the wrinkles and puckers are located. I'll be happy if Kate's dress impels a movement back to wedding *gowns*, not upscale prom dresses, where things like silhouette and shape and texture differ, and matter. For a wedding gown, I like the suggestiveness of lace or tulle-covered arms, and I like a skirt that has movement, rather than one that's tucked and ruched till it has the appearance of being cast in plaster.
All of which is just my personal opinion, and the sort of thing I loved to work on.
In general, I think most of the wedding guests I've seen so far look great, and I wonder why, given what red carpets look like. Are the upper classes actually better????

I'm totally with you, Beverly.
Are the upper classes actually better????
There's a certain amount of protocol that has to be followed (the only thing I can think of now is no bare shoulders), which may make it harder to be a hot mess.
And the reward for being awesome at your job is... more work!!!
Or, as Lois McMaster Bujold is wont to say, "The reward for a job well done is another job."
if it brings backs sleeves, I will be thrilled to pieces!
That was my reaction.
