"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Details on the dress (I know Bev will want to know this):

The lace appliqué for the gown's bodice and skirt was handmade by the Royal School of Needlework, based at Hampton Court Palace. Individual flowers were hand-cut from lace and hand-engineered onto ivory silk tulle to create an organic design with rose, thistle, daffodil and shamrock motifs.

The skirt was meant to echo an opening flower, and the bodice to draw on the Victorian tradition of corsetry. The train was just short of nine feet long. French Chantilly lace was combined with English Cluny lace to be hand-worked in the Carrickmacross needlework tradition which originated in Ireland in the 1820s. The workers washed their hands every 30 minutes to keep the lace and threads pristine, and the needles were renewed every three hours to keep them sharp and clean.

Cats to become a rabbit should gather immediately now here

job ~ma to Kat.

I wish I had watched this morning-- I clearly remember Charles and Diana's AND Andrew and Fergie's weddings.

I am all weirdly nervous because I am in a "staged reading" tonight, and I have not acting in 16 years. And I do not really enjoy acting. And I am doing a favor for a friend who is a director, but he is driving me crazy because we have no blocking and we have never rehearsed the full thing and up until last night we were just sitting in chairs but now we are entering and moving about, which is super awkward for me.

I really do not want to make a fool of myself.

However, I realize I really miss directing, so I may have to bite the bullet and do some acting so I know people.

Yay, awesome! Boo, nerve-wracking high profile work! Why is it never "We need to send someone the CEO really trusts to Cancun"?

I stayed a day longer than I intended in Nashville, because of the storm predictions. It was a good thing, since the EF4 tornado that hit Ringgold [link] plowed across I-75, taking out most of the motels and fast-food places at the exit, which were full of people who had stopped to take shelter from the storm. The drive back yesterday was slow, mostly from people rubbernecking at the damage. I hadn't seen "trees scattered like matchsticks" that close before. You can see them in the aerial shots [link] All along the road there were bits of twisted metal that used to be guard rails, billboards and a couple of semis.

Congratulations, Brenda! I think?

I've discovered that the field pretty much never does this little piece of mandatory review that they're supposed to do. Joy. Which I think means that I have to do it or it won't get done.

I dreamed this morning about a meeting I have on Monday. This is not reassuring.

If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

Yikes and congrats, Brenda?

Yeah, that sounds about right.

And I will prove my dedication and general awesomeness by playing hooky this afternoon to go have drinks with a friend.
