"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Heh. Herself linked to a humor piece in the New Yorker which imagines new iPhone apps which give you directions to a poet's house. For example:

Type in “William Carlos Williams”:

so much depends
upon
a Red Lobster on the corner
of S.R. 22 and tompkins road
drive past it and there’s no way to
turn around until you hit greenville

make the turn and we’re the white
mailbox on the right
glazed with rainwater

Dylan Thomas begins:

Do not go gentle when you make that right
For you must merge, merge into the flood of rushing lights

And Allen Ginsberg yields:

You, who take Route 80 past the saxophone-screaming fever-dream factories, belching steam like hoochsmoke out of a Negro tenement,
Who take Exit 62 and shine on the one-eyed no-legged veteran at the bottom of the ramp who wants to get back on his crackling hydrogen lightship but all he’s got is the jungle-rhythm jangle of dimes in a soot-filled change can,

Wait, is this real-world child support, where the money goes to buy food for the kids, or MRA fantasyland child support where the women just buy Ferraris and cocaine? -Jessica

For those of you whose heads are 'sploding on my facebook: He served with my brother, and I'd prefer to not confirm his certainty that "libtards can't hear the truth" by blocking.

So I just sort of calmly refute and question. And watch him avoid questions, and wrap himself further in denial.

Please don't let head go 'splode. I loves u!

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

That a HIMYM thing, right?

Yep.

Our wings are not tired.

When Tiger Woods was outed as having dozens of mistresses, the Twitter stream was FULL of insults geared towards the women he slept with, and even his wife. While Tiger's endorsements were affected by the bad PR, in the communities I "watch" on Twitter, he was hailed as someone who just did the normal manly, athletic thing when it came to sleeping with as many women as he possibly could. The girls were the "sluts", "hos" and "golddiggers."

Compare that to Lee Ann Rhimes or Tori Spelling (neither of whom I like, but that's beside the point). They cheated with ONE person, and then ended up divorcing and marrying the ONE person. They've both been shamed WAY more than Tiger ever was or will be.

"And to be clear, I am the hell. And the high water."

pictures from the storms (from the editor behind The Big Picture - he moved to The Atlantic).

These pictures are SFW, but some of them are tough to see. Early warning.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Seriously? From where I was reading, Tiger got plenty of guff. I saw very little positive press for his behaviour, and the scandal was everywhere, on a scale that Tori and Lee Ann probably couldn't muster, because they just aren't that big. I don't think you can even compare.

Boreanaz is more on that scale, or let's look at Cibriani, who didn't seem to be treated much differently from Lee Ann.

"We are the Goon Squad and we're coming to town...Beep! Beep!" - David Bowie, "Fashion"

The "slut" conversation suddenly has me wondering if there's a difference between being slutty and being a hussy (or should that be "being a slut", since hussy seems to be a noun?).

My mind works in strange ways.

Yeah, like that. People think Tiger was wrong for cheating, but not for sleeping with all those women. At least, that is the sense I have of it.

I also think it's hard to separate a whole lot of stuff from being a mistress of a multi-millionaire, especially when you're reputed to be an escort. You might not be being called a slut because you're sleeping with Tiger...it might be because you're a porn star, and people attach judgment to that.

eta: I don't know if it was confirmed that he was sleeping with escorts, but that it was rumoured, and I took it as a judgment against Tiger, as well as the women.
