Why did Darth Vader cross the road? To get to the Dark Side!

Ugh, I want to wrap everyone up in hugs today. Job~ma to Gud and DJ, sympathies to Jilli and FP, and serenity all around.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Yeah, you might want to skip #3 if you're feeling vaguely sensitive.

"And to be clear, I am the hell. And the high water."

The Family Circus: can someone explain #4 to me. I do not get it.

"This bar smells like kerosene and stripper tears."

I don't think anyone does. Maybe it's a koan, or going for a New Yorker kind of vibe.

For people not on my fb, my dad just called and said one of his fellow coaches is a certified or something Master Baiter (we were discussing competitive bass fishing, I don't even know.) I DIED!

See? I gave everybody here an opportunity to tell me what a bad person I am and nobody did, because I fuckin' rule.

Oh, damn, Gud, Jilli and Pete, Fred Pete and Hubs. I am so, so sorry. Vibing hard for better and kinder times ahead for all of you and all your beloveds.

I’m responsible for my own happiness? I can’t even be responsible for my own breakfast! (Bojack Horseman)

I don't think anyone does. Maybe it's a koan, or going for a New Yorker kind of vibe.

Can someone who understand business jargon explain something I found in my company's annual report? It's about a dollar value for goodwill.

Goodwill represents the excess of acquisition costs over the fair value of tangible net assets and identifiable intangible assets of the businesses acquired. Goodwill and intangible assets deemed to have indefinite lives are not amortized. Intangible assets determined to have finite lives are amortized over their useful lives.

This is a definition of goodwill I am not at all familiar with.

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

This is a definition of goodwill I am not at all familiar with.

It's the accounting definition, which is much different than the regular definition.

eta: Say a company is worth one million, according to its books. But say someone buys the company for 1.2 million. So now the company has to put the extra 200,000 on its books. So in the books that goes under goodwill.

I'm guessing goodwill is taxed differently than capital gains or profits.
