Corporation taxes are low. It's my understanding that many multinational companies have their European headquarters in Dublin to avoid paying higher taxes. I would hazard a guess that the high cost of living is linked to this.

Did I mention I got only 4-5 hours' sleep last night? Dang. I made it through the work day, looking like Twitchy McBugeye, but now that I'm home I feel like I'm going to collapse into a pile of dust. Sleepy dust.
