A ghost? What's the deal? Is every frat on this campus haunted? And if so, why do people keep coming to these parties, cause it's not the snacks.

Is there another neighborhood that is as good for work? Also if a month is tighter than you can manage, one way to handle it would be to tell them you wont be able to find a new place sooner than (date six weeks or two months from yesterday). If you act like there is just no way you will leave before then, there is a good chance they will give you an extension. Because , depending on how much hassle your state makes evictions, an eviction procedure could take longer than that anyway, and involves legal hassle your new landlord would probably rather avoid. And if it looks like they will take a legal route anyway, you can always back down.

The feeling you get when your brain finally lets your heart get in its pants.

Feh, Jesse. I hope you find something easily.

Bob's learned to live with tragedy, but he knows that this tragedy is one that won't ever leave him or get better.

One month seems like it would be violating some kind of housing laws if we're not talking about squatters or people behind on their rent.

While it totally sucks having to find a place and move when you aren't choosing that, why does it seem illegal? I mean, it's the basis of month-to-month, right? The same as, if Jesse *wanted* to move, she would only have had to give 30 days notice, no?

But it sucks to have to find a new place and move. It really does.

For a while, before things crashed, they were renovating apts all over my complex and I was always worried they'd do so many that I'd get booted so they could do mine too.

I'm sorry the letter was bad news, Jesse.

I was thinking in terms of what Typo Boy mentioned, where it can take more than a month to legally evict a resident who's not in good standing. I mean, I guess I see them being able to inform you that the month you just paid for will be your last, but legally enforcing the move-out date seems more of a gray area.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

I don't know if they would actually come in on 10/31 and throw my stuff on the street, but I figure I'll talk to them about it first.

Because books.

Month to month is sort of handshakey. I don't think they'll throw your stuff on the 31st, either, Jesse, but I would talk to them as soon as possible just to be clear on what happens if you can't find a place right away or whatever.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

I should really go out to look at apartments, but I'm not mentally ready! Feh.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

From experience, I can tell you that evicting a tenant takes at least three months, and that was for someone who didn't fight us in court, she just didn't leave (or pay the $20k she owed in maintenance fees).

Still, not the ideal way to go.

Days shrink and grow cold, sunlight through leaves is my song. Winter is long.

Glad to hear the good news about your mom, Frank. May she continue to improve.
