Matilda was very happy and excited when I dropped her off at school. She was wearing a pretty new dress from EM.

I don't know if I can hold off any longer. I was with Alltel until they were bought out by Verizon last year--then a local company who owned all the towers in the area pulled a fast one and demanded all the Alltel customers in their area and formed a new company. The service has been a disaster--over 8,000 people were without cell service for weeks. The past seven months has been a nightmare of PRL updates, replaced phones and devices and lack of customer service.
I went into this company to ask for a roller derby sponsorship and things were so bad there they had to have a security door put in--you have to have an appointment to even get into their corporate offices. Apparently, customers were banging on the door demanding to be released from their Alltel contracts. The new provider refused. Hundreds of people have been turned over to collections in the area and a record number of complaints have been filed with the Wisconsin Consumer Protection Department as well as the BBB.
Even AT&T can't be THAT bad! I was with AT&T for 7 years and then switched when we moved up here.

I cannot ever show that link to Matilda, because then she will NEVER STOP CRYING over the fact that she can't have a rock hyrax as a pet (actually, I probably shouldn't look at it again myself or I'll start blubbing a bit myself).
Five years ago this very minute the anesthesiologist was flooding me with numbing meds to stop the hideous neck spasm that had clutched me up at exactly the wrong moment (in midair, mid-transfer from hospital bed to OR bed) and Hec was babbling to me about New Orleans memories to distract me from everything about to happen on the other side of the drape. And about seven minutes from now, Matilda was out in the world for the very first time.
