Now tagless for your comfort.

Hold off another month if you can - supposedly iPhone 5 is coming in October. (So even if you don't get a 5, the 4 will probably be coming down in price as stores are trying to get rid of them.)

I don't know if I can hold off any longer. I was with Alltel until they were bought out by Verizon last year--then a local company who owned all the towers in the area pulled a fast one and demanded all the Alltel customers in their area and formed a new company. The service has been a disaster--over 8,000 people were without cell service for weeks. The past seven months has been a nightmare of PRL updates, replaced phones and devices and lack of customer service.

I went into this company to ask for a roller derby sponsorship and things were so bad there they had to have a security door put in--you have to have an appointment to even get into their corporate offices. Apparently, customers were banging on the door demanding to be released from their Alltel contracts. The new provider refused. Hundreds of people have been turned over to collections in the area and a record number of complaints have been filed with the Wisconsin Consumer Protection Department as well as the BBB.

Even AT&T can't be THAT bad! I was with AT&T for 7 years and then switched when we moved up here.

See? I gave everybody here an opportunity to tell me what a bad person I am and nobody did, because I fuckin' rule.

Closest relative to the elephant.

I cannot ever show that link to Matilda, because then she will NEVER STOP CRYING over the fact that she can't have a rock hyrax as a pet (actually, I probably shouldn't look at it again myself or I'll start blubbing a bit myself).

Five years ago this very minute the anesthesiologist was flooding me with numbing meds to stop the hideous neck spasm that had clutched me up at exactly the wrong moment (in midair, mid-transfer from hospital bed to OR bed) and Hec was babbling to me about New Orleans memories to distract me from everything about to happen on the other side of the drape. And about seven minutes from now, Matilda was out in the world for the very first time.

Happy birthday, Mathilda!

And thanks, Billytea and Liese!

Why did Darth Vader cross the road? To get to the Dark Side!

Happy birthday Matilda!

Isaac loved being 5 so much that there were tears the night before he was to turn 6. I had to promise him he could still be 5 for as long as he wanted. I think I told you folks this story before? Right before he fell asleep I asked him how old he was going to be in the morning. "Six."

You were a wrong baby who grew up wrong. The wrong kind of wrong. It's better you hear it from a friend.

I think I would like to be a Rock Hyrax (sumi's link).

Hyraxes are surprisingly nimble in the trees. They open the arboreal ep of David Attenborough's Life of Mammals.

Always Anti-fascist!

Allyson, Anthony Bourdain gets about eleven million user reviews complaining about excessive profanity every time he puts a book out. Which I think is funny because:
a. It's always funny when it's not you.
2.Anthony Bourdain is on TV and the interpipes ALL THE TIME via his travel show(that has a parental disclaimer, btw,) and yet there is always some hoople from a flyover state who knows the name is famous but doesn't know why and takes it upon herself to sniff something like "His constant profanity and drug references speak to a real failure of imagination." Um, it's Bourdain. It's what he does. Well, that and trash the Food Network. Like Ringo's drums, they loom large in his legend.

Wait, is this real-world child support, where the money goes to buy food for the kids, or MRA fantasyland child support where the women just buy Ferraris and cocaine? -Jessica

"His constant profanity and drug references speak to a real failure of imagination."

I think these are the same people who say, "sarcasm is the lowest form of humor."
