There are *lines* people. Lines that should never be crossed. Lines that should be more heavily fortified than the Maginot Line, and defended just as forcefully.
Bev, this is one of those lines.
YES.
Telling your dad about being careful with porn sites is just being a responsible daughter in this case, Jilli. Dad would never try to replace your mom but he's human.
Best thing about free internet on smartphones on this plane? Maps! I can try and figure out where I am!
I'm over Lake Tahoe!
I am ridiculously easy to please with a window and a map.

Maria, YAY! That is great news!
Kathy, Yikes!!! Glad you have a job but man, that's scary.
Happy Birthday, to the younger Mr. Smay.
Speaking of 15 y.o. boys... someone please tell me (lie if you have to) that 15.5 to 16 gets better? Trying to keep the youngest focused and teach him social/school work balance is making me crazy! He's always been the social one, but for some reason this year oy! he's just all over the place (damn those hormones). He's been up until midnight the last 2 nights doing homework, but I can't fault him for some of that he had band practice both days until 8, which is unusual but they miss next week because of Rosh Hashana, but still... I'm so thankful he's still getting A's and B's.
I am wearing 3 earrings! Yay!
For the clumsier buffistae, among whom I count myself. Someone's done the math for how much bubble wrap you need to protect yourself from a fall, given a specific fall distance:
I wonder if OSHA accepts "lots of bubblewrap" as a fall arrest plan?
Oh, and happy birthday to Emmett!
I hear all this, you know, "Well, this is class warfare, this is whatever."--No!
There is nobody in this country who got rich on his own. Nobody.
You built a factory out there--good for you! But I want to be clear.
You moved your goods to market on the roads the rest of us paid for.
You hired workers the rest of us paid to educate.
You were safe in your factory because of police forces and fire forces that the rest of us paid for.
You didn't have to worry that marauding bands would come and seize everything at your factory, and hire someone to protect against this, because of the work the rest of us did.
Now look, you built a factory and it turned into something terrific, or a great idea--God bless. Keep a big hunk of it.
But part of the underlying social contract is you take a hunk of that and pay forward for the next kid who comes along.
Elizabeth Warren.
LeN, I think you mean "Elizabeth Warren, BAMF"
She's my hero.
