Yeah, I just went over and looked. He sort of means personal income. His point was that, while his businesses pulled in $6.3 million:

Fleming responded by saying that while his businesses made $6.3 million last year, after you “pay 500 employees, you pay rent, you pay equipment, and food,” his profits “a mere fraction of that” — “by the time I feed my family, I have maybe $400,000 left over.”

OK, he actually seems to say he makes $600,000 net income, then ends up with $400,000 to reinvest. So, I guess his take-home is $200,000 from his businesses.

Because books.

Wait, people have money left over after they feed their families?!

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Oh god, it's brilliant. [link] She says, Your business made $6.3 million. He says, Sure, but after I pay the employees, etc., my takehome is only a fraction of that -- $600K. So then by the time he feeds his family, he only has $400K left to reinvest in the business.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

BECAUSE IT COSTS $200K TO FEED HIS FAMILY.

Wait, is this real-world child support, where the money goes to buy food for the kids, or MRA fantasyland child support where the women just buy Ferraris and cocaine? -Jessica

And he seems to have no idea that what he just said is "let them eat cake"?

Yeah, if ALL I wanted were to have a roll in the hay, I imagine that's not so hard to find. It's that that's really not all I want.

I blame my lack of getting any on Teh Gay (and therefore smaller number of people, and the fact that girls are not easy). At least when I'm feeling self-confident. If not, I blame it on myself and the fact that I am clearly ugly, fat, and boring. Y'know, like you do.

Make of that what you will. And if it ever happens, share pictures of naked Taye Diggs, please.

I would totally watch that.

When I was single, I attracted guys who were smart, nice and funny, and who wanted to be my friend so they could ask for my advice with the girls they actually liked.

I DO have a lot of hot friends...but at some point they become friends and not hot people.

"Tell your fat bitch of a sister she's better off sticking with dykes, and the same goes for you."

Um, clearly, if that is what dating a boy gets ya! :)

Rough life. Wow. (200K to feed the fam? IS HE A DUGGAR?!)

So then by the time he feeds his family, he only has $400K left to reinvest in the business.

... doesn't he have separate accounts for that? I mean, you set up a business, and you take operating expenses and insurance and salaries (including your own) and put it in one account, and yeah, the rest is profit, but doesn't he have a plan? Like, "$100K this fiscal year for investing in new equipment and developing new markets".

I'm not questioning the stupidity of the statement, but I'm hella surprised that he mashes together his personal take-home with the ongoing costs of running the business.

ETA: I mean, the business should be a separate legal entity, with its own accounting. Hmm. I'm not sure I'm making any sense, but I don't think he is, either.

I amended my post, because at first I just read the copy. When I listened I got it. That points out two things to me. 1) $200,000 is still quite a lot of personal profit, jackass. 2) I did really take it out of context, even when I read the article without listening, and it was definitely presented so that I would.

I hate having to be so careful.

And WHY, again, do people living below the poverty level continue to vote for these assholes? WHY?!? Because they DO. They just. keep. voting. for assholes who literally don't care if their constituents starve to death. WHY?

(Which is a version of my "Why do gay people vote for politicians who would rather see them DEAD?" question.)
