I must obey the inscrutable exhortations of my soul—Calvin and Hobbs

It might be Wear A Cat To Work Day.

Given the bushels of cat fur that adhere to my clothes, every day is Wear A Cat To Work Day for me.

Cash, I'm sorry things are so rough with your brother's situation, and I hope everything gets worked out quickly.

My RL name is "Heather," which doesn't lend itself to nicknames much. My BFF refers to me as "Heathen" now and again, which has the bonus of being technically accurate.

I'm at work. I'd like to be shoe shopping—not my usual thing, but I want good walking shoes for France. Maybe something like this, to go with black and slate gray wide-legged trousers? [link] But the work will pay for the shoes (plus food, rent, etc.), so here I stay.

I'm also tempted to get an iPad for the trip (and for future fun), but I keep reading the news about how everyone's getting poorer and the economy's going to crumble like a sandcastle hit by a tsunami, and that's making me sort of twitch away from it. The shoes, at least, are a work wardrobe investment as well as a trip thing.

I haven't heard of either of those, Hil.

Of course, now I'm going to go look them up.

Every now and then, I think I might actually be a little odd.

If you're working from home, isn't it more like take your work to your cat day?

I could try, but he won't work, the lazy sod. Look at him right now, sleeping while I toil to buy him catnip!

I just "Mark All Read" my gmail accounts. I was trying to be diligent and create filters, and make sure I hadn't missed anything, but... eff it. Mark 'em all read, and start fresh today, and make appropriate filters as stuff comes in.

I feel so much better just from that one little thing. What's next??

Sometimes I think I might just move up to Vermont, open a bookstore or a vegan restaurant. Adam Schlesinger, z''l

I haven't heard of either of those, Hil.

Both phrases refer to the same event.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Amy, does this work?

Because books.

Kate P.! Your name was on my newsletter the other day! That made me stupid happy. I was all, "Hey, I know her!"

Ha! Well, at least you know I was being truthful. Or perhaps not reading carefully.
