Moldova is so poor in wildlife (habitat destruction and overhunting) that they loooove squirrels because they are kind of rare. If you ask a class of middle school kids what animal they would be, many will answer "veveritsa" (squirrel). My former coworker in NC rescued two baby squirrels from a house we took apart - I wonder if he still has them.
The squirrels in DC are, well, spoiled. Tourists can't resist feeding them and photographing them. They (the squirrels) will get pushy about food. And the albino ones in Franklin Square even more so - I was once walking through the square drinking coffee and one came up and practically perched on my toe waiting for me to feed it.
Congrats, Kate P.!
Also to Allyson for finally getting some car-mic justice.
Finally caught up...only to fall behind when I go to Maine tomorrow. Le sigh.
Congratulations Kate P.!
Reading Natter was wonderful yesterday. Here's wishing you a great haircut, Erin!
I had an argument with a squirrel just yesterday. It was the first one I'd seen in forever, and it was just THERE. Staring at me. The balls.
The Beloit Mindset list is out: [link] Some odd choices there. John Wayne Bobbitt? Cheers? Mars/Venus?
Love these:
12. Amazon has never been just a river in South America.
21. They’ve always gone to school with Mohammed and Jesus.
For some reason, these made me sad:
33. Most have grown up with a faux Christmas Tree in the house at the holidays.
75. The New York Times and the Boston Globe have never been rival newspapers.
I don't even understand what this one means:
The United States has always been shedding fur.
Although maybe it explains my allergies. Fur is being shed everywhere!
...seriously, WTF does that mean?
The country needs a good grooming?
