Yeah. We are blessed that Noah had Speech but also that he has a good ear. He's a marvelous mimic and he doesn't really mind being corrected. Well, mostly. I cannot get him to stop saying VALLERINA instead of Ballerina. Drives me batty.
It's hard to get services for kids past 3. Early intervention is federally-funded but after 3 it is school district. So, SIL should try calling the local district and requesting an assessment for speech.

She also has access via LaPetite, so... Big problem was that the &*@#@! previous pede kept just dismissing it and prescribing more anti-bs. No, he needed tubes. Badly.
Yes, access is part of it, but T will be entering the school system within 18 months, and an IEP is a legal document, transportable to other districts. So it's also the bigger longer term look -- yes, services needed now, but also what services in the future. It takes at least 3 months to get an IEP you can start with and we are still working on trying to get the IEP we want a year later.
And this is Alabama. Tyler will be starting kinder in 2012, too.
My mom until she retired last year was a speech pathologist with a school system, and that was one of the things she did--work with/evaluate kids too young to be in school yet but who maybe needed help.

I know, that's why I specified elected Republicans. I'm assuming that the folks who voted for them don't necessarily agree with everything they do once they are in office.
