You don't have to cover the whole plant to kill it by flooding.
I was waiting for you to chime in on that!
Verners is also a soda.
Off-topic discussion. Wanna talk about corsets, duct tape, or physics? This is the place. Detailed discussion of any current-season TV must be whitefonted.

I'm not sure Sara wants one. She stopped playing with the Bitty Baby a while ago. She's not really a doll kid, except for her Monster High girls and some Barbies.
I think Jilli needs to see this.
OMG, I love The Bloggess so much. Have you read about her encounter with Neil Gaiman?
I have been told I am either too qqualified/not qualified enough to sell make-up part-time at Macy's.
Um. I was a make-up artist at Lancome, and worked at Victoria's Secret and Starbucks.
Dudes, yeah I have a MA. I still have freaking fingers. Seriously -- I just need a PT job. I'm not going to infect anyone with my academic cooties.
I hope the Tooth Fairy gig comes through. They wanted an ex-teacher, so they shouldn't be surprised that I have *gasp* graduate degrees.
Maria, I am so jazzed by you almost-ex company's decision. I hope this is a game-changer for you.
I am writing on the deck of my folks' proch, and damn, there's a glare.
Wait, floods took out a banana crop? How does that happen, short of actually killing the trees (which I assume would make the next several years banana-free ones as well)?
The floods did in fact destroy, by the estimates I've seen, 90% of Australia's banana plantations. It takes about nine months for a new banana plant to start producing fruit, IIRC.
I'm still trying to get over the fact that pineapples don't grow on trees. You could have waited a couple of years for me to accept this before laying this banana shit down at my feet.
I also think they are a marker of being rich, since I'm sure my parents would never have bought me one.
Yeah, my niece has 2, one purchased by her childless aunt and uncle (us) and one purchased by doting grandparents.
The flooding could have damaged the root systems. Or prevented them from being harvested until it was too late. I'm assuming the plants stay in the ground from year to year and don't have to be replanted.
I know ONE lesbian here, who I haven't met yet (but might tomorrow at a burlesque thing) and knowing this town chances are good that she would be the one you would hook up with. She is going to the fetish party...
Hah. Well, that is my first stop...

Quite so. The following article has a picture of one flattened plantation near Innisfail, and gives an idea of the impact: [link]
