"It didn't taste good. It tasted soooo horrible. It tasted like....a vodka martini." - Matilda

It sounds like people east of Atlanta felt it more than here, but some people in Atlanta in taller buildings are reporting they felt it. I didn't, and I assume Mr Peabody would have barked.

I must obey the inscrutable exhortations of my soul—Calvin and Hobbs

Oops. Missed a decimal point. The USGS is saying the quake was 0.6 km deep (less than a mile): [link]

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

I have never left a building because of a quake. Am I stupid?

I'm guessing LA buildings are slightly more earhtquake-proof than East Coast ones. (I also don't know if leaving the building is the smart thing to do vs staying put, but I can understand the impulse.)

A turkey in every toilet -- only in America!

I am on the Acela from Boston to NYC, so I missed the quake, what with the train normally being all shakey. I feel cheated.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

I've never left the building in Jamaica either, and I'm pretty sure those buildings aren't that quake proof.

Aren't you supposed to stand underneath doorways, or something?

Lizard brain at work. Plus, 1st floor of a 4 story brick building on a ravine, overlooking the ravine. Wanted to get away from even feeling like I might fall into the ravine.

Remember that the frontier of the Rebellion is everywhere. And even the smallest act of insurrection pushes our lines forward.

I'm glad I read sarameg's post before it started shaking here, otherwise I would have been a whole lot more freaked out about the ground shaking across from ground zero.

Friends don't let friends read "Atlas Shrugged"

Scrappy, I'm in DC and everything seems to be fine. I didn't leave the first time - a bunch of people came back up and then went back down - and haven't felt an aftershock.

No one's calls are going through - everyone's calling family and friends at once.
