I know! It's very strange. Still, a 5.whatever is pretty big, especially for areas without seismic codes.
I hope nobody got hurt!
Yeah, most of us left the building. At first thought it was facilities moving eqpt upstairs. Then maybe blasting in the ravine? Then it.just.didn'tstop. And the walls were visibly shuddering.
I've never felt a quake before. I don't like them.
There was one in Colorado too! [link]
ETA: Whoops! That was last night. I'm just getting alarmist now.
@fivethirtyeight tweeted that the earthquake was really shallow--6km underground--and that's why it traveled as far as it did. No idea if that's how it works, but that's what Nate Silver's saying, anyway.

Ha ha ha ha, seriously.
Still, a 5.whatever is pretty big, especially for areas without seismic codes.
Also, seriously.
I think it was deep, so it went further? Is that how it works?
So weird. I mean, we in GA are 8-9 hours from Richmond by car, and it was very noticeable, stuff swaying, etc.
WTF?!? I wondered why my BFF (who's in DC) had called, but then there was no voice. Now I know! (I just got a work email saying someone had no power or internet, because of an earthquake. And I was like "Huh, I thought she was east coast, not Cali..." and googled and saw 5.8 in Virginia. WTF?!)
We had it here! Freaky.
Really, Jesse? I haven't felt a thing today. Weird.
Also, I love social media. We were like, in the office, WTF? And then Facebook blew up.
