"It didn't taste good. It tasted soooo horrible. It tasted like....a vodka martini." - Matilda

Ouch, Liese! That's the sort of thing I would do. Don't do as I do.

Friends don't let friends read "Atlas Shrugged"

Perhaps we, as Buffistas, could get a bulk rate on bubble wrap.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Someone should buy this. I'm allergic to wool and live in LA, but it's really nice.

Jack Layton, the Leader of the New Democratic Party, and Leader of the Opposition on Canada died today from cancer. He battle prostate cancer a couple of years ago. In May he led his party to win the greatest number of seat in Parliament in its history. He was diagnosed with a second round of cancer in July. He was a party leader to be admired, energetic and postivie and fighting for social justice. I think a lot of Canadians admired him, whatever their politics because his integrity. His family released a letter he wrote on Saturday. Some of it is very practical and political, but the last paragraphs are just beautiful:

And finally, to all Canadians: Canada is a great country, one of the hopes of the world. We can be a better one – a country of greater equality, justice, and opportunity. We can build a prosperous economy and a society that shares its benefits more fairly. We can look after our seniors. We can offer better futures for our children. We can do our part to save the world’s environment. We can restore our good name in the world. We can do all of these things because we finally have a party system at the national level where there are real choices; where your vote matters; where working for change can actually bring about change. In the months and years to come, New Democrats will put a compelling new alternative to you. My colleagues in our party are an impressive, committed team. Give them a careful hearing; consider the alternatives; and consider that we can be a better, fairer, more equal country by working together. Don’t let them tell you it can’t be done.

My friends, love is better than anger. Hope is better than fear. Optimism is better than despair. So let us be loving, hopeful and optimistic. And we’ll change the world.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

He sounds so great -- there was a lot of stuff about him on my network page on dreamwidth today.

He was hard not to like. I'm sure everyone will wonder about the NDP's future and all the what if's had he not gotten sick.

Wait, is this real-world child support, where the money goes to buy food for the kids, or MRA fantasyland child support where the women just buy Ferraris and cocaine? -Jessica

Maria called to check on my levels of crazy, today. So awesome, right?

I just paid some random guy in the pharmacy parking lot to take the scratches out of my car. My filthy, filthy car. His brother wanted to have a go at the dents, but I needed to draw the line somewhere.

I don't like vampires, I'm gonna take a stand and say they're not good.-Xander

Looks like the world lost a great person in Mr. Layton.

Oh and on a more positive note; Works over!

Bob's learned to live with tragedy, but he knows that this tragedy is one that won't ever leave him or get better.

He was hard not to like. I'm sure everyone will wonder about the NDP's future and all the what if's had he not gotten sick.

I can imagine. He sounds like he was a truly amazing person.

there's a movie out called "Senna" about a Formula One driver.

I have my ticket! I have been waiting for this movie to be released for a while.

I know I will weep, but a significant portion of Senna's career happened before I really starting watching in earnest in 1991, so I am looking forward to it.
