Have you tried looking for the pedal on e-bay? Salvage yards sometimes sell parts there. I've gotten a wheel and a glove-box handle assembly from ebay.

What -t said! AT least you got good caregivers.
Perkins, go to sleep.
I crashed at 9:00 last night, after a glass of wine, so when I woke up at 2:00, I had gotten more sleep than I did any other day this week, plus I dozed some off and on after that.
Oh, Allyson. I bet someone somewhere had one, though. Wait and see what Maria's Detroit connections can tell you.
ita, I'm so sorry you wound up in the ER, but at least you got some relief.
I'm sorry about the lack of sleep, Perkins. A few hours is good, though!

Yes-
what -t said, ita.
I don't even understand how this could be happening with the gas pedal. Also, possibly since I grew up the country, I am totally sure my local garage would have put in a used one. Of course, they also passed me for inspection for YEARS when I had no horn due to some malfunction that cost $1,000 to fix.

Yay! That's a great way to kick off your day.
A while ago, the power steering hose went bad on my minivan. I took it in to get fixed and they had to wait at least a week because the part was on back order. I believe that was during the height of the automotive meltdown and a lot of plants were shutting down production--which meant the plants that produced the parts also shut down. It took a couple of weeks to get inventory back up after the government stepped in and employees went back to work.
I don't know if auto workers and the peripheral manufacturing typically slow down during the summer months which may result in parts shortages at times.
