but really wants all of us in heels.
WTF??
Can heels really be part of a dress code. I mean, I get that they can say "dress shoes", but heels?
Of course, I wear flip flops everyday. Our dress code is "dress appropriately". I am actually not certain if I think flip flops are appropriate, but I wear them anyway.
When I worked at JC Penney, they did not change the dress code after the 1980's for a while, so one of the things we were required to wear was a camisole under our blouses. This was in the late 90's early 2000's, so before the resurgance of the "cami" and, in fact, the blouse. No one worse blouses.
I don't think that anyone can make you wear heels anymore, can they? I know that I can't wear them at all; with my messed-up knees, they hurt like hell.
Super cute dresses, Aimee.
I am "dressed" for work. None of my students will be there, but I don't feel comfortable wearing shorts. So I have a t-shirt material skirt and a white tee. I'd like to wear flip flops, but I'll put on tennis shoes instead. Sigh.
I'm wearing black cotton pants, a green polo, and gym shoes. I would be wearing jeans, but my only pair are in the laundry basket.
Oh, and it looks like I'll be wearing a size smaller next week! Everything is a bit baggy, so it's time to move on to a size 22.

I was gonna say this. I can understand requiring "dress shoes" like flats, but is it even legal to require that women wear something men don't have to wear? (I don't actually know what that means for bras, now that I think of it.) Particularly given that heels are hell on the human anatomy.
fuck heels. I can't wear them either.
sumi, your boss sounds like a crazy person.
"Closed-toe dress shoes" would be as far as they could go, I'd imagine, but who knows. I saw a story recently about a little boy who wore a skirt to school when it was hot because skirts were allowed (for girls, presumably) but shorts were not.
Or, go pantsless on the plane and put them on when you get there? that shouldn't be a problem, right?
Brilliant!!
I think she is (about this at any rate.)
Concerns we have (the support staff) is that rules won't be enforced evenly -i.e., there are professional staff who wear flip flops every day: it they don't get sent home and we do. . . grrr.
Anyway, I still don't have dress shoes that work with my brace. I asked my direct supervisor if I should get a letter from my doctor - but she said to not rush into it.
