Man, the purple area (aka, hazardous air quality?) is right where we're headed.
The winds are shifting a bit. I hope they clear out the smoke in the area you're going to, soon.

The Monty Hall problem doesn't make any intuitive sense to me, except that you have to include the idea that Monty knows where the car is. It's sort of like when you listen to Wait Wait Don't Tell Me, and Peter Segal asks, "Is that your final answer?" and you know that he's hinting the caller to change to something else.
ION, we just had a retirement party for my snarky coworker (gonna miss him!) and the HR person came, and she said they would probably be posting the announcement for my position next week. OMG FINALLY. It's only been 2.5 years. Sheesh.
NOLA heat has not been very humid at all this summer (much to my chagrin).
Also, Bill Bryson hiked the Appalachians kind of alone- well, he had that crazy dude with him for part of it.
I'm definitely not up to driving, although I can totally work. Ah, well, blos, you picked PTO. On my run back from the pharmacy, I dented some nice ladies bumper as I was pulling to a stop in traffic. Ooops.
TB, was it you that wanted more reading about aces? Here's Men, Masculinity, Sexuality, and Rape.
Speaking of which the Batfamily might be the most raped family in Gotham.
Wow, Lisah.
I think I want the baby houses, but the other, NSM

Heh. Well, one can hike the trail alone, sure. But not "hike the trail" a la South Carolina governor
FYI: today my cat made out with an oak leaf.

I'm glad to read stuff about aces, but that whole thing really put me off. First of all, I assumed it was written by a man until about halfway through. But no, it was a woman (who I'm not sure is asexual) writing about how *hard* it is for a man to be asexual compared to a woman.
And I just can't quite accept that her life experience allows her to make that sweeping statement.
And the shit she says about rape (particularly about "how likely" it is for a woman to be believed when she says she's raped) made me violently stabby. I understand she was making a comparison, saying that stereotypes and social mores make it very very unlikely for a man to be believed if he claims to have been raped by a woman, because men are always supposed to be wanting to get sexed up. But I have to question what goddamn planet she's living on if she thinks women's claims of rape are accepted in these overwhelming numbers.
Bah.
