Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Good luck, msbelle!

I get that there is an unreachable "ideal" for men, but what's pernicious (Pernicious!!) is how TV especially is full of men who don't meet that ideal, but are partnered with women who meet theirs, or at least are much closer than the men are.

Agree with Calli. Competant, helpful, listens, at ease.

I find now that I am not in school and working mostly through summers, I notice the beginning of them less. Our weather is usually so crap in May/June (and this year it's been colder and rainier than usual) that I spend a lot of time waiting for summer to happen. I guess it really doesn't feel like summer until the end of June, when kids are out of school and it's more likely to be warm.

It's so cold at work these days I am dressing for indoors. Long pants, warm shirts, cardigan, scarf. It's probably 16C in here. Brrrr.

Because books.

I know summer's coming on Memorial Day, but it always feels like official summer when school is out for the kids. Summer is definitely a "no school" thing more than a weather thing for me.

call me jacki; zuisa is an internet nick from ancient times =)

Yeah, I always associated summer with no school more than with it being hot as well.

I am trying to send someone an email, and I swear I used to be able to effectively articulate my feelings through writing. And here I am failing miserably. I guess it gets harder when you are writing to people you care about?

I also just sent mail to another good friend I am DYING to tell this one story to, but I'm really not sure it's a story I'm supposed to be telling anyone, especially when she knows the other person in question, and so instead of just keeping my mouth shut she got this horribly cryptic email. I clearly need to learn to either just shut up or get it out.

If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

Public schools here just got out on Friday. (I know this because I live across the street from an elementary school and on school days you can't park on that side of the street. So I pay attention.)

Summer schools starts tomorrow.

The solstices/equinoxes (equinoxi?) don't really line up all that well for this part of the world so I've never regarded them. I get a little irritated when people harp on it, frankly.

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

But Summer Solstice makes it official!

Yeah, by the time Summer Solstice arrives, I feel like, "Hey, it's been Summer for almost a month now."

The last day of school in Boston isn't until next Tuesday.
