Yeah, I always associated summer with no school more than with it being hot as well.
I am trying to send someone an email, and I swear I used to be able to effectively articulate my feelings through writing. And here I am failing miserably. I guess it gets harder when you are writing to people you care about?
I also just sent mail to another good friend I am DYING to tell this one story to, but I'm really not sure it's a story I'm supposed to be telling anyone, especially when she knows the other person in question, and so instead of just keeping my mouth shut she got this horribly cryptic email. I clearly need to learn to either just shut up or get it out.
Public schools here just got out on Friday. (I know this because I live across the street from an elementary school and on school days you can't park on that side of the street. So I pay attention.)
Summer schools starts tomorrow.
The solstices/equinoxes (equinoxi?) don't really line up all that well for this part of the world so I've never regarded them. I get a little irritated when people harp on it, frankly.

But Summer Solstice makes it official!
Yeah, by the time Summer Solstice arrives, I feel like, "Hey, it's been Summer for almost a month now."
The last day of school in Boston isn't until next Tuesday.
Not until next Tuesday? Wow. I knew school was still in, but didn't know it was THAT far from now. My family was at Castle Island yesterday and we were astounded by how quiet it was there, but then we realized that school was still on.
Yeah, it was a pretty snowy winter.... My cousin on the south shore gets out Friday, I think.
Yeah, I managed to escape the snow by late January, but December and January were really just a big snowy mess. It made arriving in the sunny Southern Hemisphere all the more exciting!
Jesse, that is INSANE late, even with snow days! I hope they don't have to go back until after Labor Day.
I hate when schools go back in the beginning of August. It just doesn't feel right.
You go back to school in September! In the fall, at least month-wise.
You should still be swimming and watching TV on August 15th.
I get that there is an unreachable "ideal" for men, but what's pernicious (Pernicious!!) is how TV especially is full of men who don't meet that ideal, but are partnered with women who meet theirs, or at least are much closer than the men are.
Word, Jesse. Also commercials and movies: the hapless guy who is a slob and just wants to watch sports and eat Doritos, married to a pretty harridan who makes him take his feet off the coffee table.
As long as Judd Apatow keeps making hugely-popular movies, I will not believe that the social construction of masculinity is more damaging than the social construction of femininity.
Not a real dry heat, but not ny or no humid.
