So, how was your summer? Mine was fun. Saw some fish. Went mad with hunger. Hallucinated a whole bunch.

Punishingly Intricate

I have been too busy this morning getting grossed out by the NYT Vows column with the 21-year-old.

I'm intrigued and, yet, afraid it will make my head explode!

I went to the ortho today, one month of wearing a boot checkup. Wearing the boot did nothing to relieve the pain. So now he wants me to get a "3-Tesla MRI" at hopkins and, possibly, surgery. meh. I'm not really afraid of the surgery bu the recovery period would be a huge hassle.

"There are few hours in life more agreeable than the hour dedicated to the ceremony known as afternoon tea."

I'm being lazy this morning because I worked my butt off all weekend to have our Father's Day brunch, and my back has been killing me all weekend. The good part is we have enough leftovers that I have no intention of cooking again for several days.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

They met when she was in high school and he was working on the McCain campaign. He's Richard Nixon's grandson, her father owns the biggest local NYC grocery store chain. He called her pretty much as soon as she turned 18, and now they are getting married since she's 21. Apparently. He's 31 or some shit.

A dress should be tight enough to show you're a woman but loose enough to flee from zombies. — Ginger

I have no food in the house, as we were gone all weekend, but it was very nice.

I got to plunk my camp chair down in a spring-fed creek, under a big shade tree all day Saturday, and drink margaritas.

Then I hung out with friends on their fabulous new wrap-around deck and watched the sunset, and hummingbirds fight (they are aggressive little bastards.)

There was lots of food and sunshine.

It was very nice!

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

Erin - sounds like a perfect summer weekend.

I did alot of knitting on the cotton(mix) short-sleeved sweater I'm working on but still have about 4.5 inches of stockinette to do before I hit the lace part. (I knitted while watching my GoT marathon.)

CJ has been out of school for a couple of weeks and I am already starting to get "new school year info" e-mails from the high school. Yikes. His first day is August 8th.

One of my co-workers got summer homework for her daughter in the mail last week.

Excellent memoir from one of Seattle Slew's early trainers. Makes me want to go look for video of Seattle Slew passaging in a post-parade on youtube.
