Played with Kaylee. Sun came out, and I walked on my feet and heard with my ears. I ate the bits, the bits stayed down, and I work. I function like I'm a girl. I hate it because I know it'll go away. The sun goes dark and chaos has come again. Bits. Fluids. What am I?!

Punishingly Intricate

We had about 300 fans at the bout and they were standing and cheering us until the bitter end.

That's awesome!

My complaints for the day are that the music from the gym downstairs is too loud! Usually we can't hear them at all up here but, today, thumpa thumpa thumpa argh!

And my new glasses don't really work. I went back to talk to them on Saturday about them and, turns out, I really do actually need progressive lenses. So, I sucked it up and ordered them but am wearing the new, non-progressives in the meantime and they are making my head hurt. Wah!

Re: my SIL, though I realize a lot of nattering has happened since I posted last night, she won't get any retirement from her company. She'll have access to my brother's pension in 2 1/2 years. It really sucks to be 57 and to have to look for a job for the first time...ever, really. She worked her way up in this company (a small printing company) to the point where she was essentially running it, so she has skills, she knows how to run a business, but she doesn't have a college degree, and finding a job in the current climate at 57 is going to be hard. She needs health insurance, she has two mortgages, etc. She's trying to sell the condo in NH (where my brother would go mountain climbing) but it's not selling.

The upside is that she has her whole family around her on Long Island, so she's not alone. She has some insurance money from my brother, but she doesn't want to touch that if she doesn't have to, yet.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Wow, amyth, that is so incredibly shitty for her.

A dress should be tight enough to show you're a woman but loose enough to flee from zombies. — Ginger

Holy crap, amyth. I wish her loads of -ma.

'we all walk this earth feeling we are frauds. The trick is to be grateful and hope the caper doesn't end any time soon"

Gah for her. (Tell me she doesn't vote Republican currently, please. Although if she did, I would still be sympathetic, I swear.)

They pay me in WOIMS

That sounds scary, amyth.

In other news, so much for our next mayor: [link]

We won’t stop until everyone is gay.

Oh, amyth. I so hate to hear that W is in that situation. I'm glad she has people to support her, and I hope the condo sells soon. Life! Why so shitty sometimes?

Yeah, it's totally shitty, and scary, the whole deal. She tried to look on the bright side: "At least this is distracting me from wallowing in grief!" But seriously, it's not fair.

Tell me she doesn't vote Republican currently, please. Although if she did, I would still be sympathetic, I swear.

Ha! She (and her whole family) are totally Republicans. Long Island, all the way. Hardcore Irish Catholic, pro-life, more than a little bit racist, the stuff of extremely cringeworthy family dinners, to say the least. Going to visit reminds me why I ran away (to North Carolina, of all places) 22 years ago. But she's had the Worst Year Ever.

Ugh, Breitbart.

F*ck Mondays. Came into the office and my work laptop refuses to boot up. Called IT a while awo and they said this would be a priority ticket. Ummmm, no one has appeared yet and I can only do so much thru my iPhone. I have too much to do to be twiddling my thumbs.

this mess was yours / now your mess is mine

>Thanks, Pix. We didn't really expect to win. We were bouting a more experienced team and they had a jammer that seemingly phased through our walls at will.

I said this on FB, but we saw the Cincy Rollergirls vs. Chicago this weekend, and Chicago's jammers were apparently just teleporting. Wily little buggers. Chicago is very definitely #1 in their division (are they divisions? I can't remember).

The halftime "show" was a beeramid-building contest. For reals. (Only using plastic cups instead of beer cans.) My favorite part of this is that, on the sidelines, there were FOUR separate groups of people who weren't competing in the beeramid contest but had built their own beeramids because they were beeramid fangroupies. Seriously.

Most of the sponsors of the derby team were establishments from my neighborhood (restaurants, bars, hair salons, coffeeshop), which is awesome. Every time they announced one, I would yell "Northside REPRESENT!"

I don't know why Tim goes out in public with me.
