That's kinda awesome, Matt!
And yay, Kate for Buffistas tour! In a normal summer I'd be at least considering eastern Tennessee, but this one is all booked up. I have a bunch of Nashville friends, though, so it's not too unlikely a prospect one of these days.
Oh, and smonster, I'm leaving Wednesday, but my mail will be forwarded if you send to the PO box, and there's a housesitter if you send to the house. So it'll be fine either way, but do tell me what postage costs you, because I might not see the package and know to reimburse you!
My guests all came, hung out, ate, chilled on the deck and then left at a reasonable time. I thought we were going to be out there all night, so I'm happy to have seen everybody, and as happy to have some evening left to keep getting stuff done. It's been a good day.
One of these days we'd love to visit you guys, Liese. Your place seems so chill. (Btw, that was not meant to be a bad AC pun.)
It is totally chill. You would love it. We could sit on the deck and listen to tunes while the sun sets over the junipers. I would feed you peach jam and homemade ice cream and talk about life and philosophy and music.
We don't have any AC in our house. Usually there's only a month or two in late summer that I truly miss it. But we keep dithering on getting it installed because really the only thing that makes sense is getting central AC and heat together, and then suddenly it starts to sound really expensive.
I didn't have AC in northern Michigan, but I can't imagine living in NC without it. When I had a thrifty roommate we use to compromise at a temperature that was a fair bit higher than I liked. Now that I live alone I set the thermostat for the mid-70s and revel in the dry, cool air every time I walk in the front door.
I live in an oldish apartment building on the lower floor. In between my upstairs neighbor's AC and the shade from the surrounding trees my power bill is not that bad, considering my preferred temps.
Liese, do you have a preference for PO Box vs. house? And did you send me either address? Cannot find. Please resend to profile addy.
I yearn for the dry heat of Tucson. I was pretty comfortable at 105F and <5% humidity.
I can't sleep with the noisy AC on in my room, although I am starting to suspect I am going to have to learn how soon. Because last night was not pleasant.
Today is my first day interning/apprenticing at the vintage store! I am very excited, and dithering over which dress to wear. Stripey sleeveless dress with tiny buttons down the front and robin's-egg trim, or short-sleeved shirtdress in a seafoam floral with a rolled collar?
