Holy god, it is miserable out. At 10 am.
Laps had bonus of batshit crazy old russian lady. She
pinched
me. And apparently the other guy sharing the lane. Told the lifeguard, and he was all "Yeah, she's a fruitloop." Alrighty then!
Going to finish getting dressed and do some shopping.
Loki really wants me to stay home and cuddle! But I will get moving....
My brunch plans got cancelled, so now I'm just sitting around. Plans for the day include a walk, TJ's for coffee, and laundry.
Remember back in days of old, when most people only had a single iPod? How did we survive back then?
I KNOW!
Of course, I still own and use every ipod I've ever had.
Why do y'all sound so productive? My plans for today included sleeping in, but that only got me as far as 7:30, when I finally gave up any hope of falling back asleep. I suck at sleeping in. I also suck at going to bed early, and at sleeping through the night. feh.
I think I need to come up with an activity for the kids today. Yesterday we went to a Hogwarts fan store called Whimsic Alley. They loved it. We didn't have much time, but I promised to go back another time and buy them magic wands.
I got my first (and, arguably, only [if you don't count my phone]) iPod a few years ago. It's stopped charging, so I no longer use it. Besides, I kind of like having the phone on me for the next time I screw up my ankle and need to phone a friend to pick me up.
Oh, and in shallow nail news, I finally got a chance to try on the Zoya Gemma I bought weeks ago. So pretty! You'd think I'd be done with polish shopping after the big Zoya purchase, but no. Franny has been eyeing the new OPI silver crackle, and since they sell it down the street, I can hear it calling to me!
We marched in the parade with our Girl Scout service unit this morning. It was a great time until something in my head - intuition? sixth sense? - clicked and I looked at my awesome co-leader and said, "You're splitting the troop for the [other elementary school] next year for Brownies, huh?" She gaped and looked appalled. I felt horrible for asking her, but I was right. She is. She apologized and started crying. She was going to tell me tomorrow. She wants our two troops to be sister troops and still do lots of stuff together.
I makes total sense for the girls to have a troop at their home school and not travel across town just for my (what feels like to me half-assed) leadership. There should always be a troop at the home school.
So then why do I feel so utterly rejected? I cried the entire way home from the parade, on the phone with Joe, who is working. I love those girls. It accounts for about 75% of the troop. I know I'll still have girls that I love and who'll want to stay with me at the other school, but my heart is broken. L is a fantastic co-leader and has done so much for the troop this year and she's going to be completely awesome, but it's hard to see that right now. Right now, I'm sad and depressed and feeling like a total failure and like I want to just say forget it and not even do it next year.

Me too!

I've been wanting to go, but haven't yet.
Grace is feeling under the weather. She was slightly afebrile this morning. Now she's asleep on the couch next to me. She feel asleep in my arms.
I'm watching Downton Abbey. Enjoyable!
