Buffy: He ran away, right? Giles: Sort of, more. turned and swept out majestically, I suppose. Said I didn't concern him. Buffy: So a mythic triumph over a completely indifferent foe? Giles: Well, I'm not dead or unconscious, so I say bravo for me.

Goodbye and Good Riddance 2010: Don't Let the Door Hit Ya...

Every year we watch the Charlie Brown special, do the Snoopy dance, wish everybody a Merry Christmukkah, and thank our Secret Santas in the good riddance thread. Which is this one, in case you were wondering. Oh, and 2010? We have a few words for you.

And none of us deserving the cruelty or the grace -- Leonard Cohen

I have been Secret Santa'ed! I got my package delivered by UPS, and it was from Anne W. and it is PERFECT, PERFECT, PERFECT!

First, a lovely card that says "Preserve Peace: Can the Holidays." Then there was a lovely wrapped package that contained coffee (my one true love!), a mug, and tea from Anne's local coffee shop. (Yay!) And best of all, absolutely GORGEOUS hand-knit wrist-warmers and and a beret, both in lovely shades of purple (my favorite). These are perfect, because I'm ALWAYS cold. I wore them both today. They are beautiful and warm, and I adore them.

The yarn used in the wrist-warmers is produced by a collective in Peru, with the proceeds going to fund a village school. How cool is that?

THANK YOU, ANNE!

I bought the finishing touches on my gift today, and hopefully it will go in the mail tomorrow.

OK, Santa might be getting me a much better present this year than anything I've asked for. Guess who just received and filled out a preliminary survey to become a prospective Nielsen household?

I know you've all been waiting on the edge of your seats to see what Scola would come up with. For his final gift, he managed to combine my love of food, cooking, Brooklyn, books, and Italian: The Frankies Spuntino Kitchen Companion & Cooking Manual. The Scola is a truly incredible Secret Santa.

Thank you, Tom!!!
