Sometimes I think I might just move up to Vermont, open a bookstore or a vegan restaurant. Adam Schlesinger, z''l

I was wearing a purple sweater today, but I didn't remember that I had a reason for wearing purple until after I'd already gotten dressed. A pretty significant portion of my clothes are purple already.

I wish I could just go somewhere to get flensed but none of the whaling ships near me take Medicare.

The purple I own is linen and today I'm doing things that would do bad things to linen.

My dad is wearing a purple long-sleeved t-shirt today. Just by accident. While I kinda chuckled, I didn't tell him about the purple shirts today. Because he is somewhat homophobic (won't go out and beat anyone up or call them faggot, but will vote for Prop 8, for instance) because I've had the conversation with him many, many times and it's hopeless.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Dude, you're OLD.

I am older than Mummy shit.

It's five thousand for kissing, ten thousand for snuggling... End of list.

Not being aware of their bodies + having wonky cycles + massive denial is my guess

I think most of the women on "I Didn't Know I Was Pregnant" are PCOS -- strange cycles, weight changes, wonky hormones are par for the course AND they're likely infertile.

Because books.

By month eight or nine, though, when that baby is kicking and rolling and sometimes hiccuping, it's got to be a *really* small baby not to notice it. At least in my experience.

Greece's financial crisis threatens to take down all of Western civilization - a civilization they themselves founded. A rather tragic irony - which is something they also invented. - Jon Stewart

Most of them, iirc, don't go all the way to term.

Of course, it can be tricky to tell since they don't have any idea when the got preggers -- but the babies are on the small side.

Unusually and exceedingly peculiar and altogether quite impossible to describe

My mom's comment along these lines is, "How could a woman not know she was pregnant? You were like a little ham rolling around in there!"

"This bar smells like kerosene and stripper tears."

I was wonky periods, anemic, Rh positive and prone to bulking up or slimming down quickly. A friend mentioned I'd gained weight, but he's kind of an ass about that stuff, and I wasn't eating well.

Around 16 weeks and didn't know until my naked ass was on a stretcher being wheeled to the ER.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

My mother had 36 hours of labour with me, so the women who don't notice until the baby's pretty much out boggle me even further.

But I have a really aggressive period, which I've only skipped once, and that was a cause for much panicking, even though pregnancy was not a fear at the time.
