Anya, the Shopkeepers of America called. They wanted me to tell you that 'please go' just got replaced with 'have a nice day.'

not your mom's socks.

canceling my cable and TiVo and just relying on hulu and Netflix for my TV

we do this. Occasionally, I suspect DH goes and watches football through the neighbors' window, though, so we reconsider sometimes.

I remember the crazy days. 500 posts an hour. Nubmer! Natgbsb

I do no cable but Tivo. Hulu is often jerky when I try to view. It means I only watch network shows, but that is more than I can keep up with anyway.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

I am toying with the idea of a cleaning service myself. Maybe not very often, but just to get the place cleaned down to the core and then I can work from there.

And none of us deserving the cruelty or the grace -- Leonard Cohen

I do wonder how a cleaning service would deal with a blind, diapered miniature poodle in the house. She mostly sleeps, but definitely would need to be vacuumed around. She doesn't bark anymore, and doesn't bite, but she'll wander with a vengeance, sometimes. It depends on the cleaning folks' comfort level with strange pet behavior, I suppose.

I wish I could just go somewhere to get flensed but none of the whaling ships near me take Medicare.

I couldn't justify the cost of cable, esp given that cable customer service sucks. So I've been living with just broadcast TV and what I can get on the Internet for years now. It can occasionally be frustrating but I'm mostly satisfied. And I don't have to deal with evil cable conglomerates nor spend that monthly $.

hip deep in pie

We can't see Hulu in Canadia and messing with proxies has never really worked for me, but I've thought about cancelling cable. I almost switched cable providers (but the cable comes through DSL lines so it's not!cable) but they told me that the service wasn't compatible with my TiVo...and their DVR sucks, so I backed off for now. I'm sure some googling will let me figure out have to have BellTV and TiVo, but that's for another day.

Life moves pretty fast. You don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.

We have a cleaning person come every two weeks. It's AWESOME. Two dogs and two cats make a lot of furballs, yo.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Turner Classic Movies alone occupies such a large chunk of my viewing that it would be difficult to forego cable. Throw in baseball, Mad Men and the kids programming, and its rare for us to go into the "low channels." I think it's just HIMYM and Glee now, and we for a long time it was just HIMYM.

Our wings are not tired.
