The potential for an avocado tree OF MY OWN is pretty much the only thing that could ever tempt me to move out West.

Allyson, my mother is basically scared of people who aren't upper-middle-class white Jews who decorate the house in tasteful neutrals. So I feel your pain.
Freaking out about my mother's visit. Mostly that she'll hate my apartment and my whole life and demand I come home where everything is safe and in neutral colors.
Heh, my mom is coming in a few weeks and I am pretty sure that she will react in a similar fashion. However, my feeling is that her freakout will pale in comparison to the one she had when she found out our house in Salem did not have a bathroom on the first floor of the house.
go , Msbelle!
good luck, allyson

The Smithsonian is not amused.
The very best to you msbelle!
Bless Elizabeth Taylor's heart. She lived a hard life and did a lot for other people. May she rest in peace.

Those are so good.
My university is holding a teach-in on the Japanese crisis on the 29th. I want to go but it's in the middle of the day. Although, only 30 minutes of it isn't during my lunch.
Hmmmm.
Good luck, msbelle!
The cable guys have installed my phone and left. The poor trainee was suffering from cat allergies while here, so he just popped in and out a few times before he would have to leave again. And my cat was hiding under the kitchen sink most of the time (she tends to get freaked out by visitors who are clomping around and doing things other than sitting quietly).
I went grocery shopping yesterday and splurged for something sweet for my birthday--at the deli counter, I got their "pistachio fluff," marshmallow and nuts all creamed together in a green sweet paste. They only have it for the month of March (for St. Patrick's Day), and it's my very favorite thing there (well, it and the sour cream and cheddar macaroni salad). I had some for a late-night dessert last night--yummm!
All kinds of good vibes, msbelle!
Am sad about Elizabeth Taylor, not that it was unexpected. She was one of my all-time favorites.
Me, too. I want to watch Father of the Bride today, I think.
