It's not like she blew me off. She just left with another guy, that's all.

Every now and then, I think I might actually be a little odd.

I have insomnia. Again. Fuck.

Have taken valium. Might sleep now. Or just sit and stare blankly at something on the television. Possibly static. Wonder if I still get the static channel? That always had the best alien communications.

hip deep in pie

Someone just posted "Dogs in Elk" on my friend's Facebook wall in response to a comment. The internet world is very small.

'we all walk this earth feeling we are frauds. The trick is to be grateful and hope the caper doesn't end any time soon"

Catching up from yesterday: my Mom moved into an "independent living community" run by Erickson, which are pretty incredible, IMHO. Not exactly limos to take you to stores, but regular wheel-chair-equipped mini-buses scheduled, dining halls set up as restaurants, community centers, libraries, exercise center and pool, on-campus doctors, dedicated activity rooms for arts & crafts, wood-working, computer instruction, et cetera. Also an on-campus nursing home that you can transition to if their in-home care providers aren't adequate.

I feel so lucky that my Mom went for this arrangement, both that I have the peace of mind knowing that she's got her independence and that I don't have to worry overmuch (not that there isn't a level of worry inherent in her being 87, but that comes with the territory). Because, for instance, the security does a door check every morning and if the special latch hasn't been moved -- indicating that the resident hasn't left their apartment since the previous day -- they'll knock until someone answers or they bust in.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

I am dithering so badly right now. I'm going to Las Vegas in May, but the flights are kind of expensive. But my friend will be driving from the OC, and flights there are $100 cheaper. So, do I save the money and do the drive with my friend, or will I want to shoot myself after six hours in a plane and then four in a car? Or will prices go down at all in the next few weeks? Dither dither dither!!

In other news -- my desktop hard drive won't boot this morning. It's been gradually failing, and I hoped it would hold on until Thursday noon when my project for school is due.

I knew this course was going to be hard but this is getting ridiculous.

Jesse, a lot depends on how much fun 4 hours in a car with that friend will be. And also, is the difference $100 one-way or round-trip?

If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

Driving with a friend can be fun, but $100 is not near enough for the extra hassle and travel time, IMO.

I'm seeing reports that Liz Taylor has died - but not yet in any major media sources.
