This weekend: Suzi arrives! (And we abandon her to go to Richmond for my mother's 77th birthday.)
Update on yesterday's email from the librarian who stole my job: I sent her the advertisement for my job that was posted when I applied in 2006, and the published salary scale for librarians which basically gives her a 40K possible spread for my actual salary, and mentioned that I never expected she would part ways with the old Big Boss.
She wrote back a long email that I didn't really bother to read because it started with a suggestion that we get together sometime for lunch.
Who just has a pachinko machine lying around?
My DX Mike. He had one in the basement apartment where we used to live. I didn't know what it was when I moved in. I once threatened to kill him if he played it again while I was there. It was loud!
At least the Hoff wasn't singing "Hooked on a Feeling" while being naked with puppies. [link] [warning: loud ooga chalkas]
I feel traumatized just reading that description.
I agree with sumi. I think linking a naked Hasselhoff picture with puppies is against the Geneva convention. Such as that still has meaning.

It was clearly marked with a warning label!! And way less traumatic than many other links that have been posted here! Hasselhoff may be tragic, but it's no goatse.czx
Sending ~ma for your mom, Laura, plus some extra coping ~ma for you.
Dagnabbit, my latest Hidden Gem restaurant was reviewed in the Globe and is the first slide in their current Cheap Eats feature. I'll never be able to go there again!
The Ethiopian place, Jesse?
Hey, it's Friday!
Yesterday was Thursday! Tomorrow is Saturday, and Sunday comes afterwards!
Question for the hivemind: I am taking my new suit to Scotland for my friend's wedding. What is the best way to transport it? Another friend is taking it with him in a garment bag as a carry-on, but because I'm going to be in and out of airports and stowing luggage in train stations and such, that's not really a great option for me. The width of the jacket is baaaaaarely less than the width of my luggage, which does have a zippered section specifically to keep things from intermingling with the rest of the bag, but I'm not sure how exactly to fold the sleeves and the pants. I've been told about the shower trick (hang the suit up in the bathroom and run the shower for half an hour), so that should remove any wrinkled once I get there. Should I do anything else to protect the integrity of my suit? I know it's not the optimal way to transport it.
