Natter 67: Overriding Vetoes
Off-topic discussion. Wanna talk about corsets, nail polish, duct tape, or physics? This is the place. Detailed discussion of any current-season TV must be whitefonted.
I almost feel like I should try treating her like the people who lead the Nigerian email scammers on . . . send her questions, make her answer them, tease her with promises that I'll send the info she wants if she just sends me one other thing.
Anyway, I just went to ask someone here who has been in DC a lot longer than I have if she knew of any redeeming qualities for this woman. (Answer: No)
If you have even a vague connection to some educational institution, you should be able to get the Sunday Times delivered for $15 a month, with online access tossed in for free.
I still like getting the real paper on Sunday morning. It's a kind of weekly worship for me. Though it does make my local paper and it's weekly list of community attractions look pretty bad by comparison.
I saw my hemotologist this morning cause that bounce of me feeling great didn't last and I'm afraid I need more iron sooner rather than later. They ran some blood tests and my red blood cell count has improved, but they won't know the feratin until tomorrow.
I like that the doc talks through all the possibilities with me. If the feratin and red blood cell counts are low, then more iron. If the red blood cell counts are up but feratin is low, more iron. If both are up, then we look for other causes of my symptoms.
Sparky - what a frustrating situation. I vote Nigerian e-mail scam.
If it didn't mean taking an implied hit at yourself, I'd bes sure to start the letter with "Wow! Based on when I saw you last I'd have thought you'd be so much farther in your career by now! And here we are at the same level again. Huh." Then tell her you make three times what you do so she gets laughed out of the office.
We are a collective consciousness because right after, you are better than that!, my brain said what brenda said, only not as articulately.
Jess has done that using Apple TV.
Actually a Mac Mini (AppleTV doesn't get Hulu), but I haven't missed cable at ALL. And the only thing we've had to pay to watch so far has been Top Chef. (The free online streaming is weeks behind, iTunes has the eps the next day.)
Jessica, what kids TV do you watch that way? PBS Kids type of stuff.
Man, it's remarkable that applesauce can seem such a big deal for my stomach. But it will be the first thing I've kept down in over 24 hours. Still, eating slowly, sipping diluted Gatorade slowly. I am not bouncing this stuff.
Thanks to Burrell!
Now I'm trying to check work email to see if anything requires my timely attention. Shame the PC locks up when you look at it funny.
I *cannot* believe they want me to work this weekend. Seriously.

Oh yeah? How does one do that? I might be into that--while I read the Times most of the week when I get bored, it's the Sunday paper I really enjoy.
Sparky, that is frustrating. I'd probably, since you don't like her, just answer with some sort of "Wow, haven't heard from you in a while, how interesting that we both moved from (other library) to DC! I'm really not comfortable giving out that kind of information, but best of luck with your work!"

meara wins!

Yay for Burrell! Yay for keeping applesauce down. Mmm, I have applesauce. It's weird kids applesauce in a tube, but still. I'm so freaking suggestible, man.
Don't work this weekend, ita. You gotta look after your body!
