Me too, Tep. Alcoholics often become hooked on sugar after they quit drinking. I skipped the alcoholism part of my family heritage and went straight to sugar addict. I regularly had M&Ms and Coke for breakfast in college and beyond and found it delightful, rather than cloying. I could go through a 1lb. bag of them in a day or two. If hungry and offered the choice between a delicious meal and a slab of chocolate cream pie, I'd go for the pie every time.
I eat sugar like I'm a fly. Or *The* Fly. (I admit to loving the scene in the Jeff Goldblum remake where he pukes on the box of donuts in front of Geena Davis [to pre-digest the donuts] and then says, "Oh, I'm sorry; that was disgusting.")
Now, in my 50s, I am finally getting a handle on it. I will actually choose protein over sugar.
I know when I need protein, and do eat it when my body tells me I need it (I had chili and a baked potato for breakfast today because the only other choice was cinnamon Chex and that wasn't protein-y enough). But I do loves me some sugar when my body isn't demanding protein.

Me too. In fact, the ADHD kid would (did) mug a kid to take his candy bar. The other had no sugar jones as a kid, but had alcohol-related problems as an adult. I think it's the same chemical brain thing--just luck or randomosity when it manifests and for which substance. Alcohol is just sugar, after all.
Something an AA person once told me, ask an alcoholic "How much did you drink?" Answer: ALL of it. Till it was gone.
Ask me or my kid how much candy/cake/ice cream did you eat? ALL of it. Till it was gone. Till I was sick, and then went back for more. How does that differ from alcoholic behavior? Except in the inebriation affect.

Only because I can actually feel what sugar does to me now, and I hate the feeling. I still have the mouth-addiction though.
What I dislike is how often the only organic peanut butter is smooth nut crunchy. I want my pb to be crunchy.
Connie - that map is very interesting.
Times has some striking before and after satellite images. But I will warn you, they are very difficult to look at. Minor meltdown from me, although that's probably not a good barometer since I've been having minor meltdowns more or less constantly since.
TJ's and Laura Scudder brands both have crunchy varieties. I don't know that Laura Scudder is organic, though.
am still the nicest. went there for a summer. Brother went there. Followed them since like ancient Danny Ferry times. hee.
OMG, Leonberger puppy. I've only seen pictures/video of the adults.
Yeah, TJs- but I have no handy TJs.

But... Dook. They are many things, but never, ever the nicest.
